I didn't realise there were so many 🤔

Interesting that last, long-range one. I had no idea "miiddle lane hogging" was an offence.

On the subject of speeding, I attended a Speed Awareness Course only last week. Thats the second one I've done, and to be honest, I found them both very worth while. You have to go with the mindset that, you are their to try and get something positive out of it. Neither time was done for speeding on a bike, but in a car, and on both occasions I was on a completely empty road late at night or very early in the morning. It turns out I was actually very lucky to be offered the course as I was doing 52 in a 40. The criteria is 10% of the speed limit plus 9. So in my case, 53mph would have meant points and a big fine! The road was a fast A road in south Wales at 6.30 on a Sunday morning, with not a sinner about. However the speed limit regularly changed between 60s and 40s :-\

Yes I too attended my 3rd speed awareness course last Wednesday and I too have never been done on the bike but in my van. This last one was quite annoying/frustrating as I was done doing 59 in a 60 limit. I.e. National speed limit signed urban road. Apparently because my van is classed as a commercial vehicle I should have only been doing 50 and not 59 .... however as Tim says I've found all three classes quite informative and I've defo come away from each one learning something new... cheers, Michael

i'm assuming you spotted the gorilla (if not on the first course).... i confess i didn't spot it the first time....
interestingly on both occasions i was 'booked', i too was in a car .....
now, i regularly 'speed' on my bike but never 'booked' ... is this because we are far more aware and
alert when on a bike .... discuss
-
I reckon that could be the case Steve. We certainly are more aware on our bikes, of danger, but we must also be more aware of our speed ;)
-
I think everyone who wants to learn to drive a car is sent out on 2 wheels first just to see how aware you actually NEED to be!
-
Ian... I've been saying the exact same thing for years mate (as I'm sure lots of others have too) but yes 12 or 18 months aboard a moadda sickle certainly wouldn't go amiss. Plus think of the environmental impact, Farr less congestion and probably a bit less carbon emissions too?? ..Just to touch on steve's point about being more aware on a bike, then yes again I totally agree, but when one is being done for a technicality, as I was. I was totally aware of the camera van that was parked up. Being aware goes completely out of the window. Hey ho.... 59 in a 60 limit, imagine the frustration.... 🤣🤣🤣😡cheers, Michael

I attended "the course" last year having been clocked in the car by a parked up mobile unit on Anglesey doing 35 mph (in a 30 zone) going down hill exiting a village about to enter a de-restricted stretch, oh and the mobile unit must have been tucked/obscured out of normal sight in my direction of travel. North Wales apply the +10% + 2 mph rule rigidly! I just hoped that the driver behind me got done for tailgating because that was clearly in the photo they provided with the plate redacted. The ironic bit was that I was thinking that the roads would be great on the bike!
The course was in full attendance and I did learn a couple of things too. Talking to the other offenders there was around 50% who had been done a short distance from their homes on the school run but the best bit was that a Class 1 Police driver was there having offended like the rest of us. That fact only came out because someone recognised him! Transpired it was his second attendance within two years - such privileges are not availed to mere mortals.

Michael, I kept getting told off for answering 60mph when asked what is the speed limit. They drummed into us that the answer is the national speed limit, cause its different for different vehicles, eg for a van it is 50mph. So, in effect you were done for 59 in a 50 :D
-
The only 4 wheel transport in our house is a wheelchair adapted Renault Master. Does this mean I should only be doing 50, not 60?
-
You'll be doing 60mph down the road on shank's pony when your Mrs gets back and figures out what you've been doing with the dish washer Matt. ;D ;D ;D
-
;D - she can read expressions, especially guilty ones, at about treble that speed and possesses a memory for past indiscretions with a capacity to rival anything by Microsoft!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣so it's either a bloody great hornet that'll hurt when it stings ya or the sting of your good lady wife..... I'd be staying out in the ol garage mate and take ya chances with the yellow n black flying thing 🐝🐝

What's the lowdown on noise registering devices to be fitted to number plate recognition cameras?
-
Dunno but don't sound good do it😡.... I was told on a speed awareness course that as these new "smart" motorways are being put into place, the powers that be are laying tyre depth detection strips into the road surface. Then pretty soon they're going to be switched on. The theory being, if you drive over one with an illegal tyre or tyres, it detects you then at the next overhead gantry your number plate flashes up to let you know "your knicked " (sorry got a bit to sweeney there🤣) eee when I were a lad ya could drive/ride around on just ya steel rims, used to make for a cool spark shower 🤣🤣🤣
Name withheld to protect the innocent 👍🤘
