my new machine, 150cc of thump(ish) 1966 Giubileo sport extra...

that looks interesting. Whats the story? :)

Nice.

It`s a Gilera 150 autostrada, uk registered as a 1966 bike, however after a bit of research i have found it is not a Giubileo sport extra, as it says on the tin, but in fact a 1969 autostrada 150. I don`t mind... i am hoping to race prepare it , the bare minimum, ie wired up where needed, lights made qd and stand removed, then take it to holland to the Rockanje classic races, But first i have to use it a bit on the road to see what it goes like, races are not until 2020 so plenty of time. It`s a 5 speed, that`s what made me think it wasn`t the other model and it seems to go quite well. But it may turn out to be just a pleasant road bike and forget the racing, we will see...

I've said it before and I'll say it again spooky, love your outlook and drive to just go out there and do it. Best of luck with the bike and the racing 👍... cheers, Michael

I have to get the racing/acu sprint thing done now, only 5 years left before I won`t be able to get a day licence... :)

I'm sure Rossco500 will be along soon as he has two lovely little Gilera Arcore 150s :)

I like that Italian thing, I’m ready for summat different that’s Italian although my engine choice is 350ish like on one of the Ducati’s but I can be persuaded...

Hi Spooky - just picked up on this. As Timbo said I have a couple of the mid-70s Arcores. One is a standard version, the other was converted (and used) as an off road machine by the previous owner. Not sure how much they have in common apart from capacity as the engines look quite different. They seem to thrive on revs and sound like a machine of 3 times the capacity. Seen a few of them converted to mini - racers. Apparently one ended up in the Isle of Man using a Tiger Cub piston presumably upping the capacity to near 200cc.

Maybe not everybody's cup of tea but I quite like these two Arcores

Great bikes Tony. When you selling me one cheap? ;)

I have decided not to use the little Gilera for racing/sprinting, I am hoping to get a 1938 Triumph already prepared so have to sell some stuff...

These bikes look like characterful little thumpers....I particularly like the standard Arcore which is very similarly styled like my mate's Gilera sixsteener special he ran when I had a Fizzie back in the 70's......Happy cut your teeth on a bike days!
