Friend has one and thinks it is great.  Seems a good idea to me.

They are good, but there ares slightly better designs like my 'Volcano' from South Africa which saw use making tea and burgers at the Dragon two years ago.  Some of the NZ built ones are good too.  Many kettles are badly made for tourists in Ireland.

The common one here is called a Thermette, I think. It was used by soldiers in WWII and is still popular amongst farmers and picnickers. It's made of sheet tin and is usually rusty and blackened, but works brilliantly.
