The screw housing is spinning both ways on my Motobatt battery terminal! £50 for a new one, so I'm hoping for a solution - drill and tap the 10mm philips head screw which is in there, or solder on the ground wire is all I could think of. I'd like to remove the screw, but the housing it's screwed into is just spinning with it and inaccessible, so I can't get a grip on it. Any ideas gratefully received. Might be junk?

Yeah, I love Motobat batteries, but the terminal arrangement is their weak point IMHO. I don't have any suggestions I'm afraid, other than the observation that if you got it hot enough to solder to, it'd probably be melting the plastic :-\

Thanks, I think it's junk then, as the Philips screw probably isn't sufficiently meaty to tap into :'( Oh well, I'd had a run of good luck, so mustn't grumble.....

cant you use the one on the other side. all the motobatt batterys ive had have had two earths and two lives.

You're right. I'm looking at that at the moment, but with the lack of side panel cover and the new seat pan, it would have been so neat and easy to run the big earth cable the shorter distance to the failed terminal. I'd post a photo, but still get error messages when I try to attach them.
