Apologies, as I haven't been on the site for a while. Still buzzing round Bridgnorth on the matt rat Vespa though.
Immediately after leaving Boyd's funeral, and with his words of wisdom still ringing in my ears, I phoned my nearest RE dealer, in Stafford, which was kind of on my way home, and booked a test ride on a Himilaya. Fella just gave me the keys, didn't take any details, and off I went. New within ten minutes that it was what I wanted, so we had a chat when I got back. They had all three colours in stock, at £4200. But he then offered me the bike I'd just ridden, with 300 demo miles on it for £3750. Came with spotlights, 12v socket, and sports exhaust which sounds nice and throaty. Plus its had its initial service including valves. Offered to deliver it the next day, to my house an hour away! But I left it to last week and now have it safely tucked away.

Excellent ;D.
I'm going to be doing something to consolidate my collection from 3 down to 2 in the spring, but have no firm ideas yet, except that I will probs keeps the Jawa for a winter / rally bike and swap the other two for something new, modern and reliable. Himalayan you say? Mmmmm, there's a thought....

Indeed they do.I went to a small local rally at the start of december and there three of them there.I couldnt help smiling when a bloke on a big GS was wheelspinning away trying to ride off site on wet grass and one of the Enfields chugged steadily past and rode off no problem.

Sounds like a good choice Tim. I have no intention of getting rid of the Mighty Enfield yet but the Himalayan is on the list of possible replacements when I do.
Be interested to read your thoughts when you've had it a while as you have lots of experience of similar bikes and no Enfield prejudice. Though I have to say I've read nothing but good reviews to date.

Nice one. Hope you enjoy it, as I'm sure you will.

I dropped in to the same dealer last Thursday to have a look at the Interceptor. Same as you Tim, he just gave me the keys and off I went. Didn't even ask my name or to see my license first.
Looks like a nice place to do business with.

I'm fancying an Interceptor myself. I'm not too far from Stafford but my local dealer is Quarry Bank M/C's. Have thought about popping in there several time but am resisting the temptation at the moment!
