I saw that, and was surprised at how down on theoriginal bike they were. I don't remember them being a disaster nor an embarrassment, tho i never rode one. I'm sure the press were quite positive.
I do remember seeing a very rusty one kicking about Edinburgh.

Well I like mine well enough to have owned it for 20 years. I took it to Stafford show this year and it still gets mixed reviews from Ugly to brilliant. Due to the strange exhaust and restricted intake (I guess) it is a bit down on power but go everywhere at the speed limit and it's very pleasant to ride. To me when it was released I saw a big single roadster which is what I wanted at the time (and still enjoy owning) Rotax engine is tried and tested and the frame though a funny shape is plenty sturdy enough. I guess the slagging off by the press is partly due to the fashion at the time. Hipster types would probably be into them now if they could get their hands on one. :)

I think we do have a problem in the UK about being obsessed with absolute power or top speed, rather than "is it nice to ride?"
Vigor/SLR650 seems a good example. FMX may be, but I don't know - I remember Honda dealer slagging off FMX for low power, tho again, never rode one. Mind you, he was trying to sell me a nutter XR650!

Our postman used to have a Pegaso about 20 years ago, when it went in for a service they gave him 6.5 to use as a courtesy bike cos they couldn`t sell it.. i had a ride on it and liked it a lot, postie hated it.
