I am spending a few days in the Harrogate area and have booked a driving school at the Harewood hillclimb in the car.
I was wondering if any local can tell me whether there is a nice scenic route off the M6 and any places of interest to visit please?

From the M6?
Ingleton, Settle, Grassington, Pately Bridge. There is the Devils Bridge Cafe at Kirby Lonsdale, or one in Hawes. The viaduct at Ribblehead is worth a look. There are no bad roads except the M62, its just how small you want to go.

The Falcon at Arncliff, near Kettlewell is a legend. Still has the Queens coronation decorations up! And Tim Taylor Landlord poured from the jug. Its also on a very scenic drive over to Malham Tarn.
How Steen Gorge near Masham, and also the hidden folly in the woods near Masham are worth a visit.
Dent in Dentdale holds a special place in the heart of a lot of the Thumper crowd, as weve had many happy rallies there. You turn off the M6 for Sedburgh, 5 miles, then Dent is a further 5 miles, Cobbled streets, a little museum, and the Sun Inn. Perfect :
