Hi Tommy - not sure if you got sorted with a copy but let me know if you need one. It's the September 2001 issue you want (No 167). I've often been tempted by this conversion myself.

great stuff tony thats a big help thank you . i was looking up some old back issues i didnt think it was that long ago ,i got it to fire up today for the first time the 650 motor in the xbr frame but no oil pressure to the head i,m planning a whole day working on the bike tomorrow tommy

Tommy, in the article Rod mentions a similar problem with oil flow - "Bleeding the pump was actually quite a tricky operation and I eventually had to strip the pump off, disconnect the oil lines from the tank and pour oil down the lines through a funnel before I could get it to work"
Hope this helps and good luck with it

Aye tommy, apologies for the delay in my replying. Sorry I can't help, as the issue number Tony gives is far too modern for my 'collection' and I'm delighted to read that you have a copy of the issue required. ;) All the best with bleeding the oil pump, I seem to recall that Graham (OnePot) had a bad time with an XBR oil pump as well.
As a "Thought!", is there any chance of back bleeding it by applying a vacuum to the delivery side of the pump? Probably cobblers, as unlike old school singles there aren't any external copper pipes! ::)
Off to paint me facia's and re-erect the guttering! :-\

Well go steady up that there ladder if ya legs still not 100%

Aye Michael,
A wee bit cautious, but nae bad. Physio exercises have helped and I can now loup along at a canter if need be. But I cannae skip down the beach at St.Andrews ::) there is no the spring in the right leg, so it's more of a hop, drag and hop! ::) But, I will get there.
That is one of lifes pleasures, being able to skip along a sandy beach, with the waves breaking and a breeze in your hair, followed up by a large Italian cornet to replace all those calories you've burnt off. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D And they make very good icecream and F&C's in St.Andrews. ;)
Back to the facia hanging/balancing act whilst I drill the mounting holes.

St. Andrews you say, we (myself and the family) were up there about 3 to 4 weeks back. We go up to anstruther every year and always make the trip across to the east coast and to St. Andrews and the 5 pearls. Lovely part of the world. Especially when the weather is good like today. Moffat soon so fingers crossed it holds out (17th august if you're around?)
Cheers, Michael
