Hello folks .
I've just got myself a nice little GB250 clubman that I want to use for some hill climbs and sprints in the Spring. It needs registering and stuff yet and a few little issues sorting out that folk might not be able to help me with on here but I thought I would say hello first before asking for help. The GB also joins my MZ Trophy and Commando in the shed, along with another MZ sprinter that's my mates.
so there you go - Hello!

Evening stogadog, welcome to the madhouse 🤡🤡... unfortunately I am not familiar with the GB250 so may not be able to help out but please feel free to fire away with any questions, we're a decent bunch on here (generally 🤣🤣🤣🤘)

Now, this is interesting. I have the makings of three GB250s that I bought cheap a few years ago. As usual, I still have done nothing with them. They appear to have been imported direct from Japan into southern Ireland. My understanding is that the GB250 was a Japanese only market bike, so is a Grey Import anywhere else. There was a mid 80s version, and an early 90s version. Both differ a fair bit. Also, one model is single carb, and the other twin carb. The engine is the same as the Honda CBX250, overhead cam, 31 bhp, which was a fairly sporty 250 in the 80s, designed to replace the fantastic CB250RS. But, they did not sell well at all, and I'm guessing that that is due to the change in learner laws down to 125cc.
Cant remember much more. Tim

Hiya Stogadog
Welcome to the best online club anywhere. There are also events and rallies where we get to meet in real life too, which are great. I don't know anything about the GB250 but there are some really helpful people on here. Where do you take the MZ sprinting? That's something I'd like to have a watch at.

Cheers fellas. my bike is in pretty nice nick but it's sounding a bit camchainy on start up. Hopefully it's just the tensioner being stuck but at the minute I don't know where the adjuster is! Hopefully that will change at the weekend when I can have a proper look at it. I need to try and get a CBX250 manual so I can set the valve clearances etc but they seem like rocking horse shite.
The MZ gets out a couple of times a year for sprints but I would like to do more this year, hopefully on the GB. I usually do an event called the Thunderfest at Darley Moor which is a regularity trial and a hill climb at Leighton Hall near Carnforth which is good fun . That's in September and there is loads of interesting stuff turns up. There's Hougton Tower as well which is near Preston.

Welcome Stogadog - it's always good to have another MZ fan on the forum!

You're six months too late - Timbo sold his last year!

Welcome!!
Lovely little bikes the GB`s, I used to own a 500TT. Now have a 660 MZ Skorpion Traveller. Post a few picture if you can, I`d like to see the Trophy too. I had an ES250 Trophy in "barn find" condition but sold it, would love another!!

Here's a couple of pics then - one of the GB and one of the Trophy

Lovely, both of them. The MZ is the same as I had, except mine was needing a full restoration and was in blue and white. Please bare me in mind if you ever decide to sell.... love it!!! 8) 8) ;) ;)

Nice bikes 😀
If you want to see lots of pics of GB250s have a look on Goobikes.com, a Japanese for sale site.
Yes, I sold the MZ Silver Star back in the Autumn, after putting 5k miles on it since the Spring. It was a lot of fun 😀

It would take a lot to make me sell the Trophy! It doesn't get a great deal of use at the minute but we've had some proper adventures together, from my first time trial at Anglesey (not the most appropriate bike but good fun!) to riding back to Zschopau for it's 40th birthday.
Pity I missed the Silver Star , if another one comes up in nice nick it will be bought!
I'll check that site out for the GB's. I'm torn what to do with it. My plan is to get it registered and then strip it right back to make into a mini manx lookalikey. Not sure whether I have the heart to permanently alter it though seeing as it's nice as it is.
Firstly though I need to try and find a manual for the CBX250 so I can try and sort the rattle out and get a number plate sorted!

Welcome to the club!
You can get a limited number of spares for the GB250 and CBX250 from www.wemoto.co.uk and CBX250 spares from David Silver Spares.

Two lovely bikes there. I too had an ES250 back in the early eighties. Loved the quirkiness and the handling, wish I'd kept it :(.
-
Cheers for that info. I'm starting to build up a bit of knowledge now from a number of sources which is nice!
The Trophy is a cracking little bike - even though it looks truly weird it handles much better than you would imagine!
-
Got a bit more progress with my little GB. It's MOT'd now and my forms have gone off to the DVLA so hopefully I'll have it on the road in a few weeks. Timbo - do you fancy selling any of your GB stash? I would like to have a collection of spares.
-
I am considering selling the whole lot, as I've lost interest. £900, for three and a half GB250s. But I'm in NI and you'd need a big van 😀
-
Morning Tim... shame you've still not got your MOJO back, still if it don't fit, don't force it. So long as ya can keep onna smiling mate that's the main thing 👍👍
Cheers, Michael

Don't be too hasty - interest can always be rekindled then you might kick yourself.......

Mmm. I'm keen and do have the big van at least! I'll see how much the ferry would be. Can you tell me a bit more about them? O tried to send a direct message but for some reason it won't let me.
