I like it, though I don;t know much about their modern provenance.

400 seems to be an accepted small thumper size these days.

400cc is a specific motorcycle licence category in many markets, particularly in japan, which explains why we get such trick well specified 400cc bikes from thee big 4 manufacturers, many other countries have 400cc licence categorys. in several of these markets, licencees for bigger bikes are much harder to get, so many riders stay with the 400's probably encouraged by the incredible spec of many japanese bikes in the 400cc class.

Have a look on Goo Bikes. Its a Japanese site for second hand bikes. The number of stunning different 250 and 400 models that they made for the home market is staggering  :)
