Took a late afternoon run round the Sperrin Mountains (Hills!) on "Old Faithful". Thought I might hit the 70,000 mile mark by the time I got home but still 50 miles shy. Bike was running really well in the cool evening air as it always seems to. The area suffered really badly from flooding and landslips in the middle of August (our summer!) and plenty of farmers/contractors were out trying to repair the damage. Lots of minor roads still closed and bridges damaged.
Rounded off the evening with a couple of bottles of Adnams Ghost Ship and a wee nip of Bushmills.
All the best
Tony

Sounds and looks like a perfect way to spend an afternoon to me tony....

Me and Geordie are planning a run up that way on Thursday, to test are Desert Sleds ;)

A very Autumnal day in the Sperrins today, with a visit to Slims Cafe for a monster fry, and a visit with Colin at the Shepherds Rest, to arrange a date for our 2018 meet up. Pic was taken on the summit of Slieve Gallion. Unfortuneately Ivan, on the GS, finished up in A&E this evening with a broken ribs and a broken collar bone. Not from the gravel strewn flooded roads in the Sperrins, but on his way home through Belfast afterwards. Dont know the circumstances but get well soon Ivan.
I was on the Armstrong, which just gets better and better, and not the Morocco bound Dommie, as i ordered the wrong b@@@@y front sprocket from Wemoto! The air was certainly blue at 11pm in the shed last night :-\

You two have some absolutely incredible countryside over there to ride in. What a great way to spend autumn evenings.
Timbo I saw your post on your forthcoming trip to Morocco, that will be a fabulous adventure. The Dommie is just the bike to do such a trip as I'm sure you know from long-term ownership. I'm a little bit jealous of your trip, but would never have the nerve to go without a knowledgable companion. Have fun.

To be honest Ian, i never had any plans for such an adventure, but was talked into it by Geordie. We will have a very experienced guide who has been many times and lives in Spain, and there is no fees to pay, just our costs, so it was a bit of a no brainer ;)

Bit ironic that! Ivan and I must have the same luck, about 15.30 on Thursday! Bonnie day, lovely run out round the Fife coast with Kat on her Bros. Audi TT turned right, with no signal, across my lane😲 Now in dock with compound tibula & fibula repaired with rod and screws and a secondhand Sally😢 Kat OK which is main thing, unlike Rossie, I may take 6 months to repair and kickstarting lusty singles maybe in the past😣 Enjoy the trip Timbo and go canny, impact speed about 40 -- 50mph. Will keep in contact.

Bloomin Eck Bill - that's awful. Best wishes - hope things work out ok for you and the leg recovers fully.
Seems that standard of driving gets worse year on year as the driving test gets tougher. Go figure........

Gutted for you and yours Bill. Work hard for a good recovery, and needless to say, we are all thinking of you mate.
-
Cheers Tony, time of day and a BUSY young woman, with "lots to do". I am no saying more as I do not wish to prejudice anything.😉 Good boots and leather trousers helped. Altberg boots, old style, knee length, with buckle and velcro fastening, now sliced! CE approved for polis duty!😉

-
Aye SteveP, thank you for message of support. Already zimmering round the ward under my own steam, with nurse holding the back of my gown to reduce my "exposure"!😆 Physio likeĺy to inflict excersies on me later on today😕.
Good health and my regards, Bill

Blimey, that's a bugger. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Bill...
-
Thank you crazyfrog, it seems my recovery is good enough for me to be let loose on the world, tonight! I don't really believe it myself, Rossi watch out. 😉

Excellent news Bill. Keep up the good work ;)
p.s. Could people I know, please stop crashing off their bikes :(
-
Sorry to hear of your accident Bill and hope your recovery continues to go well. I'm afraid there are a lot of drivers out there who are busy and thinking about their next work appointment and not the road around them. I hate to say this but I've also experienced a lot of young women in powerful cars who from their road positioning clearly have little idea how to drive them. I've been squeezed out of my lane and overtaken badly on more occasions than I wish to recall.
Tim I intend to honour your request and not crash any time soon!
Ian

Aye Ian, thank you for your commisserations and wishes for a speedy recovery, it is the general chitchat on here and the kindness of others after one of these incidents that raises the spirit. Fortunate times in many ways.
However, I would just like to say that "I didn't crash"! 😉 My passage was impeded, the "right" or "wrongs" of that impediment have yet to be decided!😑

Good luck with that too Bill! Nearly 18 months after a similar incident which resulted in a severe AC joint separation in my right shoulder, and my bike been written off, I've seen not one penny in compensation and my insurance premiums have doubled. This is despite the fact that I have a Police Incident Report which clearly states that the driver of the car that did a 'u' turn in front of me without looking was at fault......
-
Aye crazyfrog, I shall bear that in mind. Just had a District Nurse in as one of dressings had gone wet and leaky!😯 However, underneath appeared to be all OK. The nurse went to school with our daughter in the village, so there was a wee bit blather!😊 "What goes around, comes around" in the most unexpected ways.
Off for wee rest, now.
My regards, Bill
-
Yes, much apologies. "Crash" was definitely the wrong turn of phrase. Altercation, incident, would have been much better.
-
No need for apologies Timbo. It's the beauty of our language!😊And we would be all the poorer without its flexibility and inuendo.
Another day and making progress, so can't be bad.😆
Good health and my regards, Bill
-
sorry to see you were hurt bill i hope you have a speedy recovery ,half the car drivers here are on the phone they have,nt a clue whats around them tommy
-
Aye Tommy, thank you for your good wishes. I don't think a mobile was involved on this occasion. From what I have gleaned so far, a busy young woman, seeing my braking space, in my que of traffic, as an opportunity to gain access to where she wanted to be!😨 My left hand shoulder check for Kat and cyclists, probably prompted her manoeuvre that proved pain full.
The soft tissue damage, is as always, the sore part along with the bruising "coming out"😢. The moving of the leg from the horizontal to the verticle and then the 20m "hop" through the house, down a 7cm step, then up a 15cm step, to get to the loo is brutal at 04.00am, with a full bladder and the senna tablets kicking in!😲
My regards, Bill
