Title: This is nice

Not a bad price either for the amount of work gone into it :-

Eyes, beholder etc.

A bit of a travesty in my view.......

Without nitpicking:

look at the front brake line
no mudguards so riding it in that rain would be a nightmare (as depicted in the last pic)
back light & number plate illegal on that year of bike (and don't tell me the frame is pre-75 or whatever - it shouldn't be tax exempt as mostly modern)
the front brake would probably bend the forks if used in earnest

And why has he wedged a tuba or trombone on the left side of the engine ;)

Ummm!  ???  NO!  :o

Waste of a good motor, forks and wheels, the rest appears scrap, as should be the tyres!   :'(

IMHO, a bit of a neck to "display" it!  :-X

Thank you for posting Steve and asking the question.

My regards, Bill

significant that the photo was taken in the rain, with the lack of any form of mudguards, i can't see that machine getting more than a mile or 2 before the electrics pack up... still, it's only a bit of bling, not a real bike, and as Bill says, bit of a waste of a once good frame, and a very nice motor..
still, the builder loves it, and it kept him off the streets for a few years... and lets face it, BSH loved it too ...
thanks for the pic, any bike is better than no bike..

Thanks for posting. Certainly unusual, but it is what it is, a hardtail chop. So of course its not practical, suitable for wet weather etc. Its a particular style of bike, and a good example of that style, apart from the plumbing on the nearside IMHO. I like it, and would love a blast on it. Though practical, it is not  ;)

Aye Tim,

There are hard tail chops and hard tail chops, this "Matchless" is a ringer, not a 'Matchless' or a hard tail chop.  :(

As Ian suggests, front brake line, fork 'stiction' and front braking would appear problematic for starters.  :'(

Now to commit a perhaps depracating act on this forum!  :o

The first image below, is my idea of a well built hard tail chop.  8)

The second image, is similar to a motorcycle that turned up on my drive last week unannounced, but very audible. It goes like the proverbial "long tail" up a drain pipe!  ;D  and sounds sweet doing it.  ;D  The owner declares that it also handles in a very un-Harley manner and more like a Buell. That is more like it!  ;)

Toodle pip, Bill

PLUMBING...... did I hear someone mention plumbing.....think he's done a pretty decent job of the copper pipe work, bit of a shame it's not connecting up his boiler tho 😁😁
Personally the bike is not my thing but as Steve says the builder likes it and I'm sure loved building it and ultimately that's the main thing
Cheers, Michael

Obviously a bit of a Marmite bike this one, cos I quite like it!

How has he managed to keep the Matchless reg, as theres none of the Matchless left   :-\
I would have thought the bike would have been issued a Q plate as its made up of all different bits. I suppose he just started with a Matchless frame and log book, and didn't mention anything else to DVLA. Interesting that our government run MOT centres in NI didn't say anything. Though his local one is Craigavon, which is the heart of chopper/trike territory, so will have seen plenty of these sort of bikes  :-\
