Title: Another F650 stolen!
Post by: Smithy on May 28, 2017, 09:11:01 AM
WTF is it with scumbags and crappy old BMW F650s??!! The one I bought to replace the one I had stolen in September last year was stolen from my drive last night. For fuck's sake this isn't a rare or valuable bike, it isn't going to impress anyone down the chip shop, it was an old, tatty fucking BMW that even most BMW fanciers ignore cos it was made in Italy. Are these morons so fucking thick that they can't tell an R1 from an F650? Rant over.

It is a black, 1994 model reg no M766 EDG. It won't stop me being at the rally it just means I have 6 days to find a replacement.

Bastards.

Oh no. I went through a period of having bikes stolen but now they're kept in the garage which makes them harder to get out for me but also for any thief.

Commisserations.

Watch out crazy frog......

Awww, sorry man. That really hurts. In Edinburgh, we have same problem in last 3 years - kids stealing old bikes rather than fancy stuff, just to ride around on and crash. Previously, we thought no resale value = won't get nicked, but no longer true.

No garage? Ground anchor in your drive. Cover it. They've been twice, they will try again, your insurance budget and stress levels can't take another hit.

Good luck, and once again, really really sorry. Scumbags.

Thanks guys for the commiserations. A mate of mine is lending me his Honda NC750X for a while as he is going away so I will be at the rally which was my main concern.

Thanks for the offer Dave but I really don't know yet what I want to replace the bike with.

Now where is that mains cable..............

Sorry to hear about the F but glad you got sorted.

The NC is a good bike. I just sold mine. Get used to the Diesel like power delivery and you'll enjoy it. The helmet locket is really useful.

Thanks one and all. Picked up my mate's NC last night and I love it. I'm just trying to convince myself that from a distance the motor looks like a Panther.......

See you at the rally.

you can buy a tracking device that will operate on mobile phone networks for a little over 20 quid. money well spent if you can find where they are taking bikes to after nicking them.

I tried the matchbox size trackers. They are a swine to set up as there is no screen to tell you why they are not going  what you want. Its a very case and space sensitive programme code you text to them to make them respond.

If you have a old mobile consider this

The Andoid Lost app is free and having a screen means its easy to set up. You can also dig it out of the hiding place if you need to make a call and your own phone is dead.

Simple but brilliant! Andy, you should sell old mobys in a neat box, £60 a pop!
