Just letting folk know that the NI Chapter of the Thumper Club, five of us, apart from Guzzi Steve, so Timbo, Rossco500, RonXBR, Chris, and Peter, will be in Hawes from Tuesday 23rd May until Friday 26th May, and all are welcome to join us. I'm camping, cause I'm a cheapskate, but the other four are staying B&B at a pub. We will be having a ride out around the Dales on the Wednesday and Thursday, then, on the Friday, we head up to Gretna in the Scottish borders until sunday :)

Me n our kid were in hawes yesterday Tim. Get up around there quite a bit, in fact that's where I had my accident 🤕🤕. I'll defo try n get up to meet you fellows, even if it's just for an hour. Cheers, Michael

Hi Tim,
I expect/hope to complete L.E. to J.O.G with Nathan Millward on the weekend of 20/21 so may be in that sort of area at about the right time. It all depends on the weather and midges in Scotland. If both are benevolent I may tour around Fuhrer Sturgeons bailiwick for a bit before retuning home. be nice to meet up, if we can, as I havn't seen you for ages.
Mart or as Mark would say Yart

A very kind offer John. There's nine of us altogether in Hawes, and then about eighty of us at Gretna for our annual club Scottish trip ;)
-
lol, 9 might be a squeeze, but 80 would certainly not endere me to the neighbours, anyhow, the offer stands, im halfway between preston and blackpool and theres always room for thumper club folks who aree passing by. obviously if 9 of you turn up, youre all going to have to sort out your own bathroom schedule!!!! :D

bth2bth2, as in Brian, couldn't be too far from you, as he very kindly put me up for a night at his house, in Bispham recently :)
-

Campsite is called Bainbridge Ings. Stayed there years ago, its outside Hawes, but there's a footpath shortcut to walk into Hawes. I'm there Tues 23rd, and leave on Friday 26th. The rest of the fellas are staying at The Fountain, I think. I would guess that they will leave for ride outs on Wed and Thurs no earlier than 10am. I think one of the days, they want to visit the NRM at York, but I can't give you any more details. As usual, I reckon the weather will decide the agenda ;)

theres a fantastic little pub called the green dragon just up the road from hawes, well worth a visit. last time we went it was like emmerdale farm. we were in the middle of the dales, in a country pub, but all the people in there had rolled up in their audis and range rover vogues and were talking with a variety of london and home counties accents about the quality of the schools, offstead reports and the inability of certain supermarkets to deliver their groceries for them, as well as gap years in india, and the poor size of the wine list in this dales country pub. it really was comical. i thought it would be full of gnarley old dalesmen discussing butter and playing dominos. still, the pub itself was lovely!!

that'll be hardraw then. campsite and bunkhouse to the rear.....oh an big waterfall. ;)
-
the weather is looking very kind for you guys.

Aye, looks like weather will be pretty good :)

This trip is now known as the 'Heatwave in Hawes'. What a fantastic trip. Three great rideouts which included a guided tour of Gayle Mill, which I highly recommend. We saw some truelly beautiful scenery, getting there and back via the Eden Valley, stopping off for a pint at Armathwaite. The two ride outs included the 'buttertubs' up to Tan Hill, and Arkangarthdale, Dentdale, Barbondale, Devils Bridge, Yoda's Cave in Kingsdale, Kettlewell, Coverdale, Wensleydale to name a few. We also had a very friendly visit to the SWM dealer in Kirby Stephen, really quite impressed by these bikes. And, as suggested on another thread on here, we called in at Scaleby Hill Motorcycle Museum, between Brampton and Longtown. On one of the evenings we watched a very interseting sheep dog demonstration at Hardraw by Richard Fawcett. To be honest, our weekend with the rest of our club and the Scottish club at Gretna was great, but not on a par with our dales adventure. Nice rideout from Gretna across to Kielder, and back by the military road next to Hadrian's Wall :)
-
Cheers to Brian for making the effort to join us on our run on Thursday. Good luck with the new bike.
Ron.
