Title: Tommy's XBR
Post by: timbo on May 04, 2017, 09:11:04 PM
Whilst we were at Donard campsite on our recent trip, Tommy turned up from Dublin on his very tasty XBR special. Unfortunately my photos seem to have disappeared off my phone  :-\
So, maybe the man himself, could post up a couple of pics, and a brief description of the work done  ;)

Nice and a bit different. What's up with the clutch? It intrigues me.

Aye Hondapartsman

'Perspex'/ clear polycarbonate insert, rather than the standard alloy cover. The same thing can be done on the external case covering the SRX offside. Also the 'gear gazer' windows beloved of some Ducati bevel owners; in this case they also allow you to see if the oil is circulating through the top end via the camshaft.

My regards, Bill

A beautiful bike, well done. I love the perspex clutch cover, I might be interested in one of those for my bike

Thank you, now you say I do remember having seen those on Ducati's, very nice. If I ever get the GB400/500 I would like I could be tempted, maybe one day.

Tommy,
Is that a 2-into-1 stainless exhaust?  Where did you get that made?

I've often wondered how good those Predator exhausts are,  they're out of my price range but with the demise of motad once day I might have to find the money for one.

I had a predator zorst on one of my xbr's, it was on the bike when I bought it. Personally I didn't rate it, it was very heavy and the pinch bolt from the link pipe to the silencer kept coming loose. No matter what I tried it would still vibrate loose. Spent half my time on the garage floor nipping the damn thing up. I then had the one made that I popped on the cafe racer 😢😢. Full stainless system, custom made to my design and still only cost £400 ... happy daze. Oh and it sounded much better too😉🤘
Cheers.. Michael
