Sorry if there is somewhere else I should do this,
First off ... Hello all, And a big thank you to Steve Hayward for sorting out my problem joining the forum,
I am now getting back into singles again,I have owned in the past an XT500,SR500,XR500.
I now own a Harris Matchless G80 :) a Yamaha RS100 and a Hinkley Bonneville,And My son has just got himself a 650 Dominator :)
I am finding out that info on the Matchless is virtually non existent on the web.So I hope to find a few peeps on here that will be able to advise me as I start prepping it for the spring (it has been parked up for over 20 yrs and is in quite good nick)
Cheers for now Steve P.

Always rather fancied one of those Harris G80s. Is yours kickstart only or electric? I hate left hand kickstarts with a vengeance.....
There are some owners in the AJS / Matchless Owners Club so worth a pop over there. They are a nice bunch anyway.

Crazy Frog of this parish has a Rotax engined MZ I believe.....

Hello Ian,Yes it's the one with twin discs and electric start,
-
Yeah, always fancied the Matchless myself. Welcome to the club ;) Cheers, Steve.
-
Yes, nice bikes Steve. I have no personal experience of the Harris Matchless, but I'm sure someone on here must have. And your son has good taste, owning a dommie ;)
-
The Dommie is getting modified a wee bit, So I will possibly have some bodywork, clocks, exhaust etc to stick in the for sale section on my lads behalf,Depending on the condition ;)

Hello and welcome.
Good choices for you and your son, I nearly bought a Harris G80 but just missed out. I love their looks and practicality, particularly the electric start models cos I'm with Ian on the left side kickstart issue.
Just an aside there's a Velo Viper on ebay currently with an electric start grafted on, lovely but not 10 grands worth!

Hi and welcome.
I run an MZ SilverStar, which is a similar bike to the G80, with the same Rotax lump. there is an abundance of useful info on the Rotax engine over at the MT Riders forum, and they are a friendly bunch too.
One tip the P/O gave me when I purchased mine is to never stop the engine using the ignition key - always use the decompressor lever. Apparently there is a danger of a kickback if you stop it using the ignition key, which can bu@@er up the starter sprag clutch which is a known weak point on the Rotax.
There are several sources for engine spares including Force Motorcycles, Sportax and LMS.
HTH.....

good tip...sprag clutches are not cheap. if it hasnt got a decompressor fitted ,fit one. you may have to obtain a decomp cam cover but bracket ,cable and lever are readily available.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone,To be honest Crazy Frog I haven't even looked closely enough to see if mine has a decompressor lever fitted yet,But definitely something I will have to sort out asap. Thanks for the contacts,I have seen Force motorcycles and spoken to Sportax about some tuning and a 555 kit,But didn't know about LMS ... will have to do some digging :)
