'Motor_Sport'_Guy_Martin_ motorcycle_world_speed_record (http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/opinion/land-speed-records/guy-martin-set-record-attempt)
I for one hope that he is succesful! :)
Regards, Bill

Hope he does it! Lincolnshire Lad & total nutter!
Hope it goes better than the fastest human powered boat ( ie pedalo) attempt he was meant to do in Lincoln last week which had to be cancelled as there was too much underwater weed on the Brayford pool where it was taking place!
-
Yep, there is a lot of Guy Martin programmes coming up soon on TV, so keep your eyes open for them. Personally, I could watch him all day long :)
-
Yes me too Tim. Top bloke and like Bill said love or loathe him one can't get away for what he has done for motorcycling in general. There ain't many "famous" people who I'd like to go and spend an evening and sink a couple o beers but he's defo one of them. Bet he'd be a good laugh, plus I doubt he'd be the "famous type" that'd expect you to pay for the beer all night....here's to a successful attempt at the world record
-
I saw him a couple of years ago, at the local Harley dealership doing a celebrity appearance and autographs, (don't ask me what I was doing there :-\ ), and you could just see the life draining out of him. He definitely would rather have been somewhere/anywhere else.

ITV4 tonight 3rd August 2016.
9pm . The Motorbike show.
10pm TT Blues, a programme about the Emergency Services on the Island during the TT week
-
Yep, sitting comfortably with a light libation at the ready ;)
-
he rode a harley in the dirtquake races this year and last, perhaps thats why he was there?
-
I know he's recently completed the 2000mile ' Tour Divide' from Aaska to Mexico on his mountain bike! - appparently it's an endurance event where you have to carry all your gear and bivvi by the road side at night!
Reading his autobiography you get the feeling he's backing away from the road racing ( at least the TT) and doing more unusual stuff.

Would love to do the land speed record, but could never afford to, I have had a desigh knocking around for about 8 years for somewhere approching 600mph twin turbine 1400 lb each thrust, all the calculations have been done and a novel combined frame / fuel oil tank designed, I figured it could be built for around £20,000. Well out of my league
-
Looks like we need to find you a rich sponsor from somewhere :-\
-
That would be nice, its been and interesting idea knocking around in my head for a quite a while now, and looks ok on paper, the shaped fueltank / frame means a lot can be packaged into a fairly small frontal area even with 2 turbines aboard, but still with a large fuel load.
It wouldnt be the first turbine bike I have built, built this a few years back just from a scrap yamaha tzr 125, a harrier apu and odds and sods I either had laying around the workshop, or parts apadted to fit........

Its great that there's people on here, who just bodge about in their shed, like myself, but also some real engineers, with a wealth of talent and experience :)

Apparently he's done 274mph in testing making it the fastest Triumph. Needs another 100mph for the Land Speed record! :o
