Hi all. Never been on a forum before so this should be interesting. Just bought an SRX600 low mileage 1xl it's all there except of cause for the exhaust. I'd like to get an original but l know there like hens teeth, can anyone give me advice on tracking one down or the best alterative.

Hi PRA, welcome to the forum!
We have quite a few SRX riders in the club who will probably be along before long. I'm not sure we can find you an original exhaust, but I'm sure someone will be able to suggest something suitable.

Hello PRA and again welcome to the Forum. I have had quite a few SRXs over the years and restored most of them. If you do find an original exhaust then I`m 100% sure its going to need welding in some form or other. You could try D&K in Newcastle under Lyme, but they do pop up reasonably regularly on good old fleabay.(in fact there is one on now#0

You will need the one with 2 inlets rather than the 1 inlet (from the later monoshock). I think you will find that a 400 exhaust will fit be very careful with the mounting holes and judicially tap out all holes very carefully.
Predator are still making a replacement I think

Hope this helps

Hi PRA, welcome to the madhouse ..... If you are keen to keep the bike standard then you'll need to pick up a set of down pipes,( both the same ).. and a pair of collar clamps, and 4 new nuts, and check the studs in the head are good... often they aren't, so you may be involved in a bit of work removing and replacing studs. that silencer on ebay (in Ians post) is as good as it gets for standard gear these days..
OR... get a bespoke job.. not cheap... but at least you can decide exactly how you want it to look.... plenty of pics in the gallery here.
I tend to use standard down pipes and get a silencer made up to marry on to them. Going this route you can use the siamesed down pipes from the monoshock SRX (400 & 600 are the same, as are the 400 & 600 twinshock)... using the siamesed pipes makes fabrication of the silencer a trifle easier.. good luck with the bike... post some pics when you have time.

There's some info on SRX exhausts from the SRX Homepage but I'm not sure how up to date it is and if all the systems are available - the predator one is probably a good bet.

Yes, a big welcome to our small but bijou forum. Lot of expertise on here regarding SRXs, but, I've never owned one, so I'll be about as much help as a chocolate teapot :-\

Hello and welcome from me - a pre-heated chocolate teapot!

Aye PRA,
Welcome to the "other side" of singles ownership. ;)
As Ian suggests, keep trawling Ebay/Gumtree and other auction sites that are available. Speak with DK Motorcycles, Bridge Motorcycles and the other direct Japanese importers. Or, alternatively choose from the selection reviewed on SteveH's_SRX_Homepage (http://www.srx600.net/) or your local stainless exhaust fabricator. Just be aware some of the car boys are restricted by the market they are catering for and the art of creating cones etc for motorcycle exhausts is sometimes 'lost' and the costs increase exponentially!
All the best and keep us posted if you would like further info.
My regards, Bill
