Title: SLR prices picking up
Post by: iansoady on June 02, 2016, 10:26:21 AM
I pad less than the current bid for this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-SLR-650-Barn-find-project-No-Reserve-/131832662041?hash=item1eb1d6c819:g:T60AAOSw7ehXTJEp for my excellent condition, running well example last year. Prices seem to be going up for these nice bikes.

Pete / Crazy Frog - did yours sell eventually?

Hi Ian, Yes it sold at Easter, thanks for asking. It sold for £1200 which I was happy with, and JC's made £120 out of the transaction. Personally, If I'm going to pay 10% commission to sell a bike I'd much rather it went to my LBS than faceless e-bay.

It cost me about £200 in depreciation over the year which doesn't sound great, but you wouldn't be able to hire one for £200 a year, which is the way I look at these things.

The only thing I didn't like about mine was the stupidly small tank, which was a pain when going out for a run with friends whose bikes all seem to have tank ranges of well over 150 miles. I keep on thinking I'd like a Dominator as it's the same engine, but a bigger tank, and once I've moved house I may have room for one in addition to the two MZ's!

Pete.

Some good philosophies 🙏

The SLR is sitting at £920, too much for a scabby one. That bike is £5-600 tops. I sold my Vigor recently for £1200, having paid £850 for it a couple of years ago, though I did a few bits and bobs too it.
Dominator tank is only 110 mile before reserve  ;)

Thanks for the heads up Timbo. I'll have to factor in the price of one of these then, if I do get one :-

TBH, 100 miles is probably as much as I could cope with in one sitting on the SLR! Ah, the good old days of 150 miles before morning coffee on the Commando in France.......
