Hi Michael.
Well, as far as I know my money has been re-sent to Holland. I`ve not heard anything back from the vendor, in fact I`m getting a bit sick of it now >:( What I should have done, after talking to people, was just bought the b***dy thing with my credit card :-\
Hopefully I`ll hear some news in the next few days but the fact is, because their bank sent the payment back, the shine has gone off the sale / purchase now ...... the damn thing should have been sat in my garage now >:(
-
One day you'll look back and laugh 😂 .............or possibly not... 😡
-
That bike in Ireland has been up for 15 days now, so is probably sold by now. Is the price in £ or Euro?
-
I think looking on the website Tim, there are things for sale in pounds, euro`s and dollars. The GB appears to be in pounds.
-
Yes I think from memory looking this morning it was in pounds sterling, I think it was approx five n arf mucho grando.
Keep us posted Steve as to developments on yours, hopefully land just in time for the weather to start Perking up a touch. Cheers, Michael

-
Things seem to be looking up! Keep everything crossed!!
-
You didn't tell us it came with a free roll cage! Result!
-
That's a very substantial crate.....
-
Could go swimming with sharks in it if the GB isn't enough excitement...
-
On the up shot Steve you'll be able to weigh that crate in once you've unloaded and drooled over the bike and given the price of scrap at the moment get half ya money back.....result :D ;D
Cheers, Michael

I had a call yesterday telling me the GB has been shipped to Skelmsdale, then being collected by a local freight company and delivered Tuesday. I was pottering about the house today, about 5.30 and out of the corner of my eye I saw a bloody big wagon :o I went out side and asked if he was looking for #10......."aye" he said, "I`ve a little motorbike in the back for ya" :o :o :o It`s in good buckle, not quite as nice as the pictures but I`ve now got it!!! ;D ;D ;D
I didn`t get much chance to check it out as it started to sleet/snow as I was unpacking it outside. The poor old Skorp is sat out in the weather as there`s not enough room in my garage because I`ve put the shark cage in there too. I`ve stuck the cage on the internet locally, see what I could get for it!!!! ;) ;)
Anyway, this is a bit long winded, sorry, but it`s here........GET IN THERE!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I forgot how small they are :o ;D
-
RESULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hopefully it's been worth all the hassle!
Obviously as it's just arrived and your itching to try it the weather is going to be crap all weekend!! >:( >:(
-
I hope so!! If the payment would have gone through first time it would have been a POP, just need to get it through a test and reg`d now..... woo-hoo!!! ;D
-
Photo's?
-
None yet, it was a mad panic to get it unpacked and put in the garage cos the weather was rough .... hopefully soon :-\
-
Great news, and mucho relief, I'm sure :D
Surely you have to send the metal crate back to the shipper?
-
Nope FOC so I`ve stuck it up for a hundred quid .... hehehe .... if you don`t as, you don`t get :D
-
Congrats! When do you expect to be out on her?
-

Not sure on that one Matt, need to get it ready for the test and I`m waiting on the paperwork to arrive.... soon hopefully :-\
-

:D It`s buried in the garage at the moment, blocked in by a shark cage, as soon as I get it out I`ll get some pictures, cheers ;)

:( :( I`m a bit disappointed at the moment. I had a quick look at the bike yesterday and noticed marks on the tank and front mudguard :( :( they need painting :'( on the plus side, my mate who has a body shop came around this morning and was very positive about repainting it ;D I thought with it being a black green pearl, it may have been an issue but he says not ;D ;D Need to drop off the tank and mudguard to him in the next few days and also try to find a headlight in excellent condition. I think any 7" flat lens lamp will do, as suggested in another thread on here. ;D

Seriously Steve check out the XBR lens unit, David Silver has them for around £25 and I'm almost certain they would fit - I've just measured mine and it's 7". The Gb headlights I've seen on Ebay have been £silly so unless the actual headlight unit is damaged all you need is the lens. If you want to send me a photo of your lens or I can send a photo of mine we can see if it's the same.
-
Hi Steve, I think David Silver is out of stock at the moment for XBR lenses but I have signed up for an email when he gets them back in stock? and regarding GB headlights, the ones I`ve seen are either in America or Europe, so neither would be any good. My mate came round on his ZR-7 and another on a Bandit, both lenses appeared to look the same :-\ I`ll find one but when I nip out and take the lens out, I will photograph it and send it to you...good idea ;) Thanks for your help
This looks like it may do...?

:( :( I`m a bit disappointed at the moment.......my mate who has a body shop
Sorry, manxie, but in light of the latter, surely the former can't be true? 😀
My XBR tank has "character" - does your mate need any more friends?...... Thought not - I'll bet he's well-popular!

He`s very popular but it`s not a free-bee, he`s calling me later today with an estimate for the job. :)

How far do you plan to go with oil in your new machine? Obviously, new oil and filter, but what about the filter screen and oil strainer? I'm not sure how crucial they are and am tempted to be lazy and leave those 2 until winter.
-
I`ll go on the advice from the guy`s here. Initially I`m just going to check the oil and ride it.... hopefully ;)
-
It would make sense to change the oil & filter cheap enough and worth it for the piece of mind. The oil strainer is a bigger job unless you have any reason to do it ( recent blow up/ engine rebuild) I'd leave it until winter. I'm doing mine this winter for the first time but only because I'm taking the side cover off to repaint it. Don't forget a new gasket as I'll bet it'll come off in at least 2 pieces!!
-
What about the little strainer on the oil tank? Thanks for the pdf's BTW - very gratefully received!

Unless you have a reason to be concerned I would leave it as it is potentially a bit of a pig to do. First you have to get the oil tank out then split it & clean it, new gasket, refit and then bleed the oil pipes which often get airlocks in the pipes or the oil pump - not an easy job.
What IS worth doing is to fit a magnetic sump plug - it's suprising how much 'sludge' you get on them. Basically aside from regular maintenance, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Got it. I thought the magnets on those plugs had a reputation for coming off!? Maybe cheap Chinese ones?
So, I'm gonna see your magnetic sump plug and raise ya!

The Wemoto ones seem OK,they sell pattern parts but they are good quality patterns, i've never had a problem.
I'll see your drain plug and raise you a drive sprocket nut! ( Bear in mind you need 6 of these)!
Rip off nut!! (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Drive-Sprocket-Rear-Nut-for-1987-Honda-XBR-500-SH-/391419712039?hash=item5b226ed227:g:nioAAOSwzvlW-51A)

Ripped the headlight out of the GB tonight and compared it to the XBR light image on David Silver`s......you were spot on....they`re the same ;D just need to wait for him to restock now ??? Although there is a hole for the parking light, the GB doesn`t appear to have one, does the XBR? I`ve had two XBR`s but never looked ???

Now thats interesting. Yes the XBR does have a parking light and a parking light setting on the lighting switch. However, having just checked the GB500 wiring diagram the GB doesn't seem to have one! Also on the GB lighting/kill/starter switch there are 6 wires on the diagram but on the XBR diagram the switch had 8 wires - presumably the extra 2 wires go to and from the parking light. Do you have a parking setting on the switch?
I'm not sure how you stand MOT wise without a side light - I seem to think it's not a requirement if it wasn't originally fitted.
-
Hmmm??? I don`t know, I`ll have a look tomorrow. Looking at a picture the seller sent me, on the right hand switchgear there appears NOT to be a switch to turn on the lights (unless they`re on all the time...a US thing??)......I think there is on the XBR????? However, on the ignition there appears to be a "P" setting?? I don`t now ::) I`ll try and get the new battery on it tomorrow and have a play?
-
I found myself desperately trying to scroll that picture to reveal more of your bike. ;D Must be coz mine's locked away. Oh, OK, yeah - and yours is a GB!

When I go to CMSNL and look at the schematics, the XBR has a parking light, the GB hasn`t???? Weird??? ??? ???
-
Those switches are different to my XBR ones- I have a P position on the ignition switch so you can leave the sidelight on with the key out - but also on the handlebar switch.
Not a good picture
