Title: April Stafford Show
Post by: timbo on March 30, 2016, 12:17:37 AM
Anyone thinking of going? Is the April show mostly old Brit stuff? Is there camping at the showgrounds? Never been to Stafford, April or Oct, but fancy a look round  ;)

Unfortunately I won't be going in April with big bro this year, got somewhere else to go that weekend. Jerez for the moto gp, I'll be thinking of you all when I'm sat in the sunshine listening to/ watching them fly around. Hopefully be going in October. Hopefully I'll have the XBR street tracker finished so possibly have it on the "thumper club" stand, we,ll see.....cheers, Michael

I'm hoping to go, but not sure which day yet. TBH, I usually go both April and October, and I couldn't really tell you what the difference is.....

It used to be basically "Old Brit" orientated but of late a lot more Jap/Continental seem to be involved. Im sure if you are looking for something for any thumper you probably wont be disappointed. My problem is that it is a "mortonextravaganza" again.....I will never forget the "Toystore" fiasco a few years ago..... >:( >:( >:(

Morning Ian, am I correct in thinking that the "toy store" display was the one where you chaps had a life size version of the wind up evel kinevel toy???.....if so then you were bloody robbed, as anyone with a life size version of EVEL KINEVEL deserve a medal in my book ;) ;) ;)...

The less said about life-size dolls the better ::)....but you are indeed correct. I think both Graham and Gareth don't really wanted to be reminded about the whole sad and sordid affair. I hope all at mortnobs can sleep at night!!!!

According to the blurb there is camping, you can get details/book on  01507 529529.  I was camping there for one of the October shows some years ago when we had a club stand ...bloody cold it was too!

Up to now I hadn't been taking much notice of this thread as, because I'm a full time carer my weekends are usually busy. HOWEVER, I've just checked the calender and I'm free that weekend and as Stafford is only a couple of hours away so as SWMBO have given me a pass all being well I'll be down for at least one day possibly two as I haven't been camping for ages. It'll be nice to put a few faces to names.

Great, sounds like a wee thumper meet up. I'm not going to book ferry until last minute, as I want to wait and see what weather is doing  ;)

I've just had a reply back from Mortons to say there are no camping pitches left for the April Stafford show so if you want to camp you will have to find an alternative site  :(.

Ah well. I'll look into it. I know there's a site on Cannock Chase, plus a Caravan Club in Shugborough estate. I will do some more research  ;)

Camping at Stafford is a crazy price system totally unrealistic unless you have a stand/stall.

The best way I've seen it done is by good old Bruce Pollard, he used to carry his tent and sleeping bag in as a day visitor and stay there all weekend.  ;D

To all those going, have a great weekend. Unfortuneately, I can't make it  :(
I'll get there some year.

Come over for it in October, hopefully Graham and Gareth will organise a club stand then entry and camping shouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully it's because of all the hard work and preparation you are putting into the Shepherds Rest weekend.  ;)

As in zilch, nada, nought, nuffink  ;)
Funnily enough, I'm heading up that way tomorrow, to hopefully plan a ride out, and have a word with Colin, the landlord. We could be as many as 60 as ABR could number 35  :)

Morning Tim, d'ya think you'll be heading over to the September stafford show?? If so we could possibly meet up and I could hand over a nice juicy box full of XBR bits n pieces. Probably save you a couple o three quid in postage, if not no problem I'll get it sent over via Hermes
Cheers..Michael

Hi Michael, do you know the dates for the autumn show? , as I hope to go. Even if I'm on a bike, Im sure I'll know somebody in a van who can bring them parts back here.

Evening Tim. The dates (as far as I'm aware) are 15th and 16th October 2016. I usually go then, thumper club have a stand too. They used to av a lovely XBR cafe racer on there... ;) ;) ;) they may possibly have an XBR based street tracker this year!!!
I honestly don't mind either way mate, I can box them up and post them over if you prefer??
Ps...be good to catch up if you do go tho, hopefully sneak a swift beer (or two)
Cheers...Michael
