Title: New Thumper
Post by: manxie on March 20, 2016, 11:41:25 AM
Just bought a new thumper. I`ve picked up an MZ Skorpion S, needs one or two bits tweeking and it`s been fitted with a digital dash  ??? so I want to change these back to the originals (they come with the bike) So I`ll be picking the brains of all you Skorp owners for advice  ;) The owner said to me ..... "my dad may have something that`ll interest you, an immaculate GB500TT in his living room!!" Needless to so I`ll be pestering him to death now to see if he`ll sell it to me...for sensible money  ;) In the meantime, a bit of tweeking to the MZ and I`ll be happy  ;D

Very nice, I always liked the Scorpion. Check out the MZ riders club as they know a lot about these bikes and it's a good club.

Cheers fella`s. It does need a tidy, it`s definitely "used" condition but sounds sweet!  :) Put the Fazer for sale locally but no sniffs yet  :( and the sun is shining!!

Excellent.

I have decided I quite like mine.

It does thrive on revs mind - don't ride it like a Thumper !

I saw them several times back in the day Michael, a great band. However, after a misspent youth of seeing up to two or three LOUD rock concerts a week, I've just been told I need hearing aids. I'm not going to have any, but I fear it's only postponing the inevitable.  :(

Oh dear Pete, not good mate. One can never have to much of a misspent youth  :) :). Seen quite a few decent rock bands too the loudest by far was Motörhead back in 1980/81...so loud my ears were ringing for a week....ohh, those were the daze.....
Steve...keep pestering I say, you never know the guy just may crack under the pressure....gotta be worth pestering if it's only done 850 miles

It is brand new....trouble is, is it an expensive ornament? Would it be used...shame not too? I`ll keep on pestering cos I you say Michael he may crack but it may be worth looking out for a sensibly priced one with a few thousand miles on it  :-\ Cheers

Exactly, what would you do with it, as it would be too good to use  :-\
Unless you are getting it for humble money and selling on, or to keep as an "investment", or family airloom. IMHO, we're far better off with nice, but well used XBRs. The GBs are nice to look at, but I don't covet one, unless its cheap ;)

Yep, I saw Motorhead on that tour too. Definitely the loudest concert I ever saw!

Eh up Pete, I was lucky enough to get tickets to the AC/DC concert at wembley last July, fourth time I,ve seen them and they were absolutely brilliant, as always. The first time I saw them again would have been 1981 at queens hall in Leeds....as noddy holder used to say....keep on a rockin :) :)
Cheers...Michael

Ps...sorry Steve if I/we have encroached on to your thread. My apologies certainly wasn't intentional.
Just the two things in life that still make me feel good. BIKES and heavy ROCK music. Hence it doesn't take much for me to get side tracked from one to the other....cheers Michael

Yes, sorry for going off at a bit of a tangent, AND PLEASE REMEMBER, YOU HAVE TO SHOUT, I'M GOING A BIT DEAF!

For some reason, I managed to miss AC/DC back in the day but would still like to see them. I'm put off most concerts these days because of the cost, but there are some great new heavy rock/blues bands around and it doesn't cost as much to see them.  ;)

Yep, unknown bands in small venues, for not much money. Its the way forward for us oldies. Saying that, I can't remember the last time I went to see a live band. Living in the sticks doesnt help  :-\
