Many thanks. Not too far from me so when I have a day off I may well go and have a look.

If you go have a look at Woodhall Spa, they have a memorial to 617 (Dambusters) Squadron and the local Petwood Hotel was the Officers mess - there is a fragment of one of Barnes Wallace' bouncing bombs in the carpark. If you wanted to make a full day the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage museum at East Kirkby - about 20 miles away - is well worth a visit - they have their own Lancaster!!
Oh! not forgetting of course the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight based at Coningsby ( about 10 miles away).

Thanks Steve that sounds like a day I have to do, some very interesting stuff to see. My wife is a Lincolnshire lass and knows the area well so I will have little problem in persuading her to come out for a ride.
I think we are so lucky in having so much heritage in the UK from medieval times to the WW1 & WW2 things. Some lovely rides to be had indeed.

Yes, lots of amazing places to visit, though I haven't got round to a tour of the 'bomber county'. I believe there is a micro car museum thereabouts. Was in Norfolk a few years ago, and couldn't believe the amount of WWII airfield heritage :)

The micro car museum is somewhere near Boston. If you are into aircraft, as well as the two above, there is an 'Airfield Trail' of some of the smaller wartime airfield sites, some of which have small museums attached. They are also in the process of building a new memorial centre to Bomber Command on the outskirts of Lincoln, the monument, a spire the hight of a Lancaster wingspan, is already in place with a big visitor centre due to open next year.
