Title: gn oil
Post by: spooky on June 10, 2015, 05:21:57 PM
where does all the oil go on gn250`s ? i have had three and they all used oil but there is never any smoke, and only one had a leak from the top end but not bad, , got me puzzled, i haven`t measured what they use yet but it always needs a top up after about 100 miles....

No idea where it goes but I can tell you it's normal for GN250's - they drink it like theres no tomorrow! I did 40,000 miles on mine over 5 years and it always drank like a fish and rattled like a bucket of nails but never let  me down.  I never actually changed the oil ( only the filter) as I worked it out it had an oil change every 2 months just with top up's! I reckon it was running on a 50:1 mixture.  Keep a close eye on the level!!

New I think they were 21bhp and 80mph.  With 50K on the clock mid teens BHP if you're lucky and 65mph! ( 70 if you're brutal) BUT it handled really well so you didn't need to slow down much and could do 65 pretty much anywhere.....maybe thats why it drank oil and rattled a lot. ???

Not fast but a really torquey little engine in the lower gears...I always fancied putting one in a small trail bike..I bet it would have made a good off roader.
