For those that know Cwmdu Pete he again is putting on his morning charity bike show on in Cwmdu, Llandeilo on the 19th Sept with some live music in the evening, this gives us the opportunity to camp there 18th-20th and use it as a Thumper Club meet as only a few others will be camping over.

Hi Mark
Looks as if the old and infirm could be visiting this site again then, thoroughly enjoyed last years visit, hopefully camping and Velocettes will also be involved. Are you going to join the Hoi Poloie this year or fence yourself into your special arena?

They fenced me in for public safety, it was the stipulation of the insurance terms.
Will be great to see you both if you can make it. :)

I can't afford two trips to Wales in September, so I'm going to Cwmdu for my thumper trip. Tony also going, and maybe Ronnie as well. So, see you there :)
-
I am definitely up for it. It was a great weekend last year and Cwmdu is an amazing little place. I will try and persuade the great Oz to come along too. Cheers. Cliff

You got to let them go.
Drop him off the day before. ;D

I did mention this might be a good time for him to use his student railcard but only got myself in trouble with management. :(
-
It's ok Pat, we won't miss you. ;)

-
Just thought id bump this thread up to the top of the events list to remind everyone that its on ;)
-
It sounds like the kind of weekend I would enjoy, thumpers, good people and lemonade (yes really). Is it open to anyone on the forum?
-
Yep, its a Thumper gathering tagged onto an already existing charity bike show. The camping is across the road from the pub and shop which is worth a visit in itself, as its owned by the NT and run by volunteers from the village. Note, there are a few different Cwmdus. This one is near Talley Abbey, near Llandeilo :)
-
Thank you for that this sounds like a weekend I must put in my diary.
-
Just bumping up the Cwmdu do. Hopefully see a few of you there ;)
-
See you there on Friday. Looking forward to it.
-
Going to be a good weekend, some of us will be camping in Rhayader on Wed and Thurs on the way down if anyone wants to extend their weekend.
-
Looks like im the only one coming over from the Emerald Isle :( Will probably get the afternoon boat from Dublin on Thursday. Stay at Llanfairfechan that night, and have I nice spin down through Wales on the Friday :)
-
Hi Tim, Just seen your last post, I will be riding down early on the Friday. My route will be... A49 south to Whitchurch..a short hop west to Oswestry, then a long drag south on the A483 ( to Llandovery ), then last few miles down the A40.... If you fancy some company.... PM me. Tony
-
Oi Timbo, arew you still planning to go to Llanfairfechan for the Thursday evening? If so I can meet you there, stay the night and travel down Friday morning. Can you mail me or call, you should have my mob no, or post on this thread, I'll check later.
If you are staying at the bunkhouse have you called Sam and booked?
Cheers Steve
-
Yep, ferry booked, and bunkhouse at Llanfairfechan booked Thursday night :)
-
OK Timbo. I've been in touch with the farm to check, but couldn't get you on the phone. I'll set off from Hudds after work and see you there.
Steve.
PS should be there about 8 ish.
-
All being well, I'll try and make the meeting.
Dave.
-
We're on the way. Just stopped near Shrewsbury for some breakfast.
-
YeeHaa. Be leaving to pop down early afternoon.
-
............I'll try and make the meeting............
Well, I made it and so did a few others. It was nice to see a lot of the old TC members......
Mark & family, Ifor & Indian outfit, Trevor & Sue, Steve, Tony, uncle Timmy the parking attendant & sister + family, Richard, Simon, Martyn & Danny, Furry & Molly and probably a few more.
One highlight was the Vulture circling above us on Saturday....it seems it's a locals pet.
The bike show was a success and the weather was great, as was the evenings entertainment.
I left at 6:30 Sunday morning to get to a moped meet near Telford, unfortunately there was a game fair on at Weston Park and the traffic was horrendous...it took nearly four hours to get there, but I made it with 10mins to spare.
I took the replica Whizzer out for a pleasant 35mile trundle around the local area with the NACC group from Ivetsy Bank.
Got home late afternoon...for a snooze.
Dave.

Nice write up Dave, says it all, was a great weekend.
-
Yep, fantastic weekend. Definitely one for the calendar for next year, and a great Thumper gathering :)
I reckon around 250 bikes in the show on Saturday, and I really enjoyed helping out with Anthony doing the parking. The whole do has a great community relaxed atmosphere. My sister and husband and kids had a fantastic time and will definitely be up for next year. My niece and nephew have now been on a motorbike, an outfit, and a trike!
Plus the journey down from Snowdonia with SteveD and Tony was a right laugh. We just about survived Steves satnav routes :)
-
This was my wife Sue's first Thumper Club do (but by no means her first bike event) , and she really enjoyed it.
I thought it was a great weekend. The second band in the evening were brilliant, and what a strange drum kit! Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty and even a John Martyn number. Great stuff.
Good to meet so many friends again. Hope this happens again next year.
