MOT'd today passed no problems. Must get more mileage as only done just over 2k since last MOT
Next job on the agenda is rear chain and sprocket. Any recommends? Talking of chains at what mileage doe's anyone recommend changing cam chain?

Hi Prop, I'm currently using Swift chains from Wemoto. Not the dearest or the cheapest. As for camchains, I reckon 50k, but I could be talking complete sh1t! Its just what I've done.

Fit a decent heavy duty 'O' ring chain and fit a chain oiler ( Loobman oilers are cheap and work well). Thumpers trash cheap chains!

Don't messed around trying to find that elusive bargain chain they don't exist, believe me I've tried, buy a good quality one and have it done with.

Dont bother with cheap drive chains....waste of time and money !
Cam chain....replace when needed ! Should do a lot more than 50K !
Have owned 2 bikes with over 100,000miles.....only routine maintenance.No major work.

The camchain I changed was on a dommie and had got very noisy :-\
I've recently changed my chain oiling regime. I keep a coffee jar full of chainsaw oil and a paint brush at the back door. So when I come in from a run I just brush the oil on the inside of the chain. That's if the bike hasn't a chain oiler fitted.

I keep a toothbrush and a jam jar of gear oil! ;D
Out of interest, what is the chainsaw oil like? (I take it you mean for oiling the chain on a chainsaw, not 2-stroke oil for the engine?)

Yes mate. I always used chainsaw oil in my scotoiler as well. I think its cause of its no fling off characteristics. Though, I rem reading that gear oil was always recommended too :)
