Not bad, know where there,s a better looking XBR cafe racer :)

Aye Propeller,
Nice, but the swinging arm is 'standard' Motrans Ducati/Ducati and more than adequate for the power it is being asked to handle on the road.
Also the extra pipework does nothing for the bike apart from load it up with more weight where you don't need it. Extra rigidity may be an advantage with the old 'narrow case' frames, but on the widecase used by Ducati and adopted under licence by Motrans they are plenty stiff enough. The 100Kg Ducati single is the weight to be aimed for, with a 350 motor tuned for plenty of mid-top range power. Yes, there are fancier bits of kit for the track and the Island, but one of these 350 spring valve widecases (image attached) will provide years of enjoyment.
Shredded rear tyre on narrow case 250 Monza (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-B4-p3h_VTmo/T8tG8o9uWpI/AAAAAAAAAQA/zLGTAilTDG0/s400/tyre.JPG)
"Unfortunately, Stu had done a little too much sliding in qualifying and found that his rear tyre was badly worn. The budget didn't run to a replacement so it would have to do for the race."
And you can't have that much fun if the frame is like the Forth Rail Bridge! ;D
Sadly 'Steelcraft haven't updated their blog in a while, but if you care to see some tasty bits of Italian singles and scratching about on Ducati 250 singles, these 2 Gentlemen have a good idea of how to do it.

Hi bill.
100kg. Sounds a great motorcycle.
I'm aiming for 100kg on my 250rs. Whether I'll achieve it or not remains to be seen. A long ways off yet. Other projects jostling for time as well.
Cheers, Andrew.

Should be good Andrew.
I have a friend whose maximum weight limit for a bike is set at 160Kg, wet. He has a very nice T100, which achieves that! ;D
Nippy, would be the best way to describe it! ;)
All the best with all the rebuilds.
My regards, Bill

While I can appreciate the skill and work that has gone into it, it's not my kind of bike really..
...however on the same page, this is more like it ...

Yes I,d have to agree with you on that one Steve. But if you get chance check out the branquart (think I,ve got that right). Honda cbx six. Lovely bit o kit and wot a sound. It,s no ordinary cbx

I think its brilliant. The computer cr*p leaves me cold. But as a stylistic exercise it's brilliant. Would I want to own one? If I was filthy rich I'd probably commission one without all the electronic garbage, yes. And park it alongside the confederate fighter and stellan egland harrier. We can all dream! (It's about all I can do on my budget) ;D
Edit: there are more photos, including some "under the skin" framework, on you tube.

The problem with a bike that sounds like that is that everybody can hear the fluffed gear change!

It may be useful as an ornament, but who amongst you would actually ride this ?.

Me

Admittedly not very fast, but I wud ride it and probably be chuckling in my helmet for the whole duration of the ride. Ya,ve just gotta love that little devilish face he,s painted on where the headlight shud be. I like a man with a sense of humour

Do some of you guys actually like that? It looks bloody awful, a combination of rat bike and something a two year old might draw. Something you make because you haven't got any money and all of the good bits are scrapped.
Probably handles very poorly with those stooooopid tyres and of no practical use whatsoever. Take your rose tinted specs off and have a very good look at it. The engineering is extremely poor, its a pile of bits put together by someone with a reputation, so it has to be good, NOT.
It's not a special, it's not bike art it's a pile of SH1T and the only good thing about it is the engine.

I think it'd be a laugh. Not the best handling thing in the world, but that's one reason why you'd laugh! Can't suss the shock. Seems to pull, but from the top?
The tyres aren't the worst I've seen by a long shot, although, personally I think the fat rear detracts from the aesthetics anyway.
The frame has defo been structurally compromised, but not to the point where it's unrideable, I guess.

Take the rear wheel out and where the wheel spindle fits put a long pole. Stand on the end of the pole and watch the swing arm twist, originally the shocks would have helped to control this. Its not going to break but will make cornering at speed on uneven roads interesting.
I too cant see how the shock works in tension, I know there are bikes that have this bit this shock looks more like a mountain bike shock than from a road bike. I could be wrong though.

I agree with what you have said. Also it's surprising how much the triangles going back to the top shock mountings help frame rigidity. But the general stance and look is great. The technical shortcomings could, in theory, be overcome whilst still keeping the very much the same look, I think.
I love it, with reservations on a technical level.

The comment about a two year old is interesting. It does have a very cartoon quality about it. I like the thought of what it is about the way a two year old might try to express the things he/she sees. Why is it that a youngster (two year old is a bit early) can't simply put pen to paper and simply reproduce exactly what he/she sees? Maybe that abstactness is the essence of this bike.
