My first bike was just like THIS (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-DT175-CT3-Twin-shock-enduro-1973-/130952209065?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item1e7d5c22a9). Same colour as well, fond memories.

I can't be consoled having sold her :(

I didn't have a trail bike until 1979. My first bike in 1974 was a baby thumper - a Triumph Tiger Cub. I wish I still had that.

Mine was a '77 in silver PMU 992R funny how I can remember that, it was tuned by a guy called Dave Rayner who owned a dealership in Chadwell Heath great bike that I totally abused :-[

Here's one very similar to my first bike. Bought from my Uncle Barry after he got naffed off commuting the twenty odd miles from Blackwood to the Royal Mint in Llantrisant everyday. As I remember it was a great little bike; I wonder where it is now?

Mine had duff crank seals when I bought it, it had no power and used to rev uncontrollably. At one point it was revving well into the red with a closed throttle, I turned the ignition off and it continued, pull the plug cap and it carried on. Ended up stalling it against the garage wall. After that it used to scare the shit out of me every time I missed a gear !!!!.

What a small world. Wonder if I could find out what reg. mine was - is there any sort of database of vehicles you've had registered in your name? Could even, but unlikely, have been the same bike. Now that would be weird!

I got a 2004 Honda Solo for No2 son when he was 16 (7 years ago) he and No3 son did 9,000 miles on it. Great wee bike as it is not limited to 30mph, just an orange light comes on when you reach 30, obviously becomes a target rather than a warning! Took it out myself and it reminds me of my old SS50, good fun for a short run.
