Pat & I went down to a Thumper Club meeting of sorts.....The Big Knock Rally near Guildford.
Diesel engined bikes, no I'm thinking of building one, but the engineering is interesting to say the least and it does produce some interesting characters....much the same as the Thumper Club.
The main topic seems to be fuel consumption, some of the Chinese engined Enfields are getting between 130/160 mpg with a top speed of 56mph......
The Dutch manufacturer of the Track T800 was there, (Smart Car Turbo Diesel) with CVT and shaft drive, looking like (and using some parts from) a KTM Adventure.
We used the location as a base to do the Round Britain Rally and covered the South Coast and London, then we moved on to Taunton to cover Somerset, Dorset (13 RBR's in all)....on the Suzuki Starfire, which itself got some interesting comments.
One, when a bridge was closed to traffic, we jumped off and I was pushing it across on the pedestrian access, when a man said, WAIT, I need to see your bike, after a few seconds of admiring glances he said...It's nice to see a proper bike, not some foreign rubbish...if only he knew.
Dave.

Sounds like a good weekend. I went to the diesel rally a few years ago and I agree, they are a good bunch. That Smart car engined bike is very tasty.
I take it you were on the 'BSA' DR? Any pics?

I considered this but ended up going to the other thumper club rally on the same weekend, the MZ owners one in Exmoor.
Not much interesting there, just a few new Hondas.

RAF Cosford had its airshow last weekend...approx 50000 people trying to enter a small arifield resulting in 9 mile tailbacks...Plus £25 per person to get in!!
I went to an Airshow and Transport Festival at Welshpool Airport...cost £5 for those who paid. I entered the Raspberry Ripple into the Transport Festival and got in for free!!
Aircraft visiting included SeaFury, Harvard, Pitts Special BBMF (Spitfire, Lancaster & Hurricane), Vulcan and Typhoon (Eurofighter)......5 solid hours of flying entertainment and not a single late plane!
What a day out! Ab Fab....pics attached

Hi Ian, Last weekend, I saw an autogyro, the same as in your photo but blue, taking off from Dunkeswell Aerodrome, Devon.....marvellous little machine, at least if the engine conks out, it'll still fly.

If you´re interested in air shows. Last weekend we had the Dutch Airforce Days close to where I live. 220.000 visitors got in for free, so traffic was pretty bad.
