I was very impressed with SteveD's new soft luggage at the weekend, but is there anything better looking than the venerable (and now unavailable) Swagman throwovers?

A few years ago I was at a local car boot when I saw a practically new set of Swagman's on one of the stalls. While I'm looking at them chap on the stall comes up " They're luggage bags Mate, for a motorbike!" " ..er yep I know....er how much? ( having already decided I'd go to £30 for them)" " Well, it's my mates stall and he's gone for a cuppa......£5?" :o I didn't even quibble! thrust a fiver in his hand and legged it!

The Oxford lifetime throwovers were pretty good - mine have lasted years now.
Still rate them over most of the overpriced solid ones out there.

Ah yes, there are loads of good soft luggage options, the Oxfords being one of them, but for classic style I think the Swaggers have it, despite not holding as much as other bags.
Mine came from a charity shop run by a woman I know. She said to me, "I've got some motorcycle bags in the back, I thought I'd let you see them first". I thought to myself "Wouldn't it be great if they were Swagmans. but they'll probably be Lidl cheapies". Lo! they were Swagmans. I asked how much, fully prepared, like Steve, to pay around £30. She said " I can't let them go cheap, but you can have them for £8". Happy days ;)

I've been using a couple of OB roll top bags lashed to the pannier frames with Rok straps.
Still get drawn back to the TT boxes though. It's the luxury of having something you can load with a shovel and use as a table when you get there.

Still got mine from 1988 and still going strong.
The capacity not very good but they do a Grand Job.

The new Magadan panniers are fantastic. Roomy and well suited to the Ten. Well designed, waterproof, slash proof with plenty of features. Much lighter than them alloy boxes and I just carry a lightweight seat now. Job done. ;D
