Friday - supper with the family in a local hostelry
Saturday - Started with the 5K park run and was pleased to get a new PB (23m54s). Got home, packed up the motorbike and rode up to beautiful Llanthony Priory to meet some the TC lads for a night's camping (ooher!) Arrived to find SteveD and Rick in attendance and news that Colin and Theresa were somewhere on a hill. I haven't seen Colin for seven years so it was great to meet up and to meet Theresa for the first time. Some food was eaten and some beer drunk.
Sunday - Had an amazingly scenic 30 min run along sun-dappled roads at 7am and returned to the Priory for breakfast with the lads. Rode down to Llancaich Fawr where I met the family at a car show, lots of nice stuff there and my wife had to be steered away from a Karmen Ghia that she was lusting after. Picnic lunch. Rode home and then slept in the sun under my eucalyptus.
In the evening we went over to a neighbour's house for a BBQ, Polished off the evening with a bottle of Limited Edition Blaengawny cider, made by my friend Andy.
It was nice to be out on warm days on a big single, riding some beautiful Welsh country roads.
Me happy :)

Cut the ****poor speakers off a hundred quid worth of blue tooth intercom :( took about a dozen goes at the micro soldering job required to get combined ear plug speakers to fit :-[ and can now go deaf listening to Vaughn Williams at 80mph and half volume. :)

What would the world be like without people like you in it? ;D
Good choice in music, but I'd go for something stiffer for scratching, like the Prodigy's 'Firestarter'. For cruising it might be The XX or Bach
(anything by either).
Edited to add - 'Hallogallo' by Neu! would suit all riding moods. Thanks to Richard Moore for putting me on to this track.

Yesterday I stopped off at Abergavenny bus station to have a coffee in the company of the 60+ other bikers there. I was on the XBR, with Swagman throwovers over the saddle and a drysack bungeed on top. I was wearing my Arai open face, 80s race suit and black boots with seaboot socks over the top. Three sportsbike riders openly laughed at me :(
Oh dear, have I offended the biker fashion police? ;)
Should I buy an Alpinestars suit now?

The seaboot socks may have been a step too far. ;)
We visited Llanthony and Abergavenny last weekend on the XT rally run.

Didi you stop for a cuppa at Llanthony?
This weekend a bike club had booked the bunkhouse and there were some tasty Brit classics parked outside, including a Matchless twin, an A10 and a very nice B40.

On the Friday evening I loaded up Oliver (16) and Annie (12) and made my way to Blenheim Palace where we joined several thousand others in an English Civil War re-enactment. Great fun, despite putting up the tent at about 1 a.m. and forgetting the groundsheet.
Luckily the tent is huge and the weather was dry so we got away with it. Unluckily there were thousands of ruddy ants everywhere.
Tried musket - bit dull - them moved onto the cannon which I loved as usual.
Just wondering if a cannon counts as a thumper with just the one (iron) bore and all ?
Beer tent was large, well priced, and excellent.
Not a bike all weekend.

Sounds like a grand weekend, apart from the ants ;)

A little bit overkill me thinks, why not just use that white powder stuff it poisons ants in no time. :-\
-
Were they army ants?
Shall I get my coat?
;D

Definitely not army ants, but were English so I bought a load of them back in my packing so they can start buying up houses and forcing the locals out ;D
