Title: Bollocks!
Post by: guest7 on May 09, 2013, 07:34:50 PM
I've just heard that BT have secured the exclusive rights to MotoGP (including Moto 2 and 3) from 2014, so no more BBC or Eurosprt coverage  >:(

So... now we'll have to shell out for BT subscriptions if we want to watch MotoGP.

Pah!  :(

Gits :-<

Wonder if the free channels could be persuaded to cover some classic racing instead..

They only got it 'cos the poxy Beeb could,'t be arsed to bid enuf for it.... preferring to stick with the BIG YAWN of F1.... where you can see more exciting activity in a Tesco's filling station on a Saturday afternoon than on an F1 grid.... bet suzi perry is glad she made the move now..... though they aren't giving her much to do...

Think they are also showing it through sky (but you might have to pay) but at least they are adding mid week shows from the paddock and garages. Lets be honest, the BBC didn't do enough to promote MotoGP... Listen to radio 5 live (their sports channel!) and see how many time s bike racing gets mentioned. >:(

It's just another example of the crass, profit driven world we live in. Serve them right if no-one watched it.

Might I suggest voting with your feet/wallet and boycott all these big events totally. If you want to watch live sport support local stuff -  MotoX, trials, sprints, even Sunday league football over the EPL. They are much rooted in reality than the big money stuff that usually promise much and deliver little.

That said I did go and watch the first Diamond League Athletics meeting of the season last night. For QR20 (about £4) I got to watch most of the world top athletes along with what seemed like half of the population of Ethiopia; the ground was bouncing everytime an Ethiopian athlete took to the track. An excellent nights entertainment mostly paid for by the Qatari state - the caring face of capitalism NOT!

Bread and circuses eh  :)

I missed the England Rugby home matches when they switched to Sky. Simply took to watching the other games with my pint, shouting for Italy when any of the others turned up thinking it would be a breeze and ctaching up on England via the web later. The fact it came back to the BBC probably says it wasn't just me who did this.

I agree totally with that sentiment with regard to MotoGP, but the support classes (Moto 2 and 3) are fantastic racing. "GO ON SCOTT!"  ;)
