The following thread started was on HUBB. I just thought I'd see what you lot made of it  ???

Simple but pointless question perhaps about cable ties

I laid awake wondering about this for several nights

Cable ties : white or black ? Which last best in sunlight out doors in all weathers?

Whichever I can blag free are clearly best ;-)
But given the choice, black are less visible against black frame parts/cables/wiring etc so generally look more professional. Not noticed any significant lifespan difference between black/white/coloured. All good practical bikers/tourers will have a handful of spares in a jacket pocket anyway so no probs if one snaps!

It was only a couple of years ago that I ran out of the huge store of cable ties I'd amassed when I worked in the cycle trade. All bicycles tend to be packed with handlebars and wheels cable-tied to the frame. If you cut 'em right, you get a spare long cable tie for free.

Since then I have using whatever came to hand, but by choice it's black all the way for me... they still look good after a few years, whereas the white 'uns look tatty.
