Ok, I'm well behaved these days, so when I get a new (to me) bike I make a point of doing a service and doing it properly.
So tonight I'm doing the oils and filter on the Blackbird... Taking the lower halves of the fairing off was about as easy as you'd expect(!) Sump plug came out fine and was replaced (with a new washer) and torqued to the book setting. The genuine filter spanner wouldn't fit because of the proximity of the headers, so now I'm watching oil drain down the handle of the (decent quality) filter whip which is wedged into the crushed remains of the old filter, still firmly attached to the front of the engine, well that oil which isn't already in a pool around the container on the floor... As the title says, why is it never easy? :-s

Phew what a struggle! Eventually had to go to the hammer of last resort and a block of wood to jolt the crushed remains of the filter free!
Success though and it's ready for the new filter so now a victory cup of tea then reassembly :-)
On the plus side it was a gen Honda filter and the old oil wasn't too bad so it's had an owner who wasn't cutting corners :-)

How is the Skorpion these days ?

Sitting naked in the garage with the cleaned carbs back in place but not yet reconnected. I had to cancel the insurance on it to insure the Blackbird, but that's a long story probably best suited to the rants section!

Lol, for the benefit of those whose mind is one track*, it is the MZ sitting naked in the garage, ie with no bodywork on :-))
*and a dirt track at that! ;-)

Is that a Mz as in not wanting to be known as a Mrs or a Ms or perhaps that's just my single dirt track mind working?
