I've done it. Went out car shopping whilst in Nottinghamshire and came back with a Landrover. The Nissan Terrano was constantly breaking and way too small so I have now joined yet another wing of the Thumperista and acquired an R reg Discovery. 2.5 Tdi (300), 7 seats, 2 sunroofs, etc etc.
Best go invest in a few tankers of EP90.

let me get this right, your nissan was unreliable, so you decided to plump for the reliability and utter dependability of,,,,,,,,, a land rover, and a disco to boot!! sorry, but, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
lets hope your luck holds then, you were unfortunate to be the 1 in 100 to get a duff nissan, so lets hope you are the 1 in a 100 to get a non duff land rover!!!

Let's hope his luck doesn't hold, the way it has been running it could be really ugly.
give the boy a break, he'll be fine there are plenty of farmers around here.

No, what I plumped for was the fixability of a Landrover, as distinct from the 'just give me your wallet' of a Nissan.
-
Invariably the phrase 'It's easy to work on' is applied to machines that need a lot of working on. My sister's big Nissan 4WD gave good, reliable service for over 300,000 miles. It didn't need working on. My Landy always let me down when it got far enough from a repair depot; and if I put a serious load in it the springs broke. Rubbish!

Whereas my Nissan was dead by 130, 000. Rotten wings, knackered brakes and corrosion so bad bolts were snapping.
Fingers crossed.

Ooooops ! But you bought a Disco ! ;)

you want a fixable landy, buy a series. still unreliable and thirsty, but as long as yo can afford the fuel is will still get you home with a few tools. but a disco is another matter altogether, all the complexity of a range rover and all the unreliability of a land rover with none of the advantages of either. good luck, i suspect you may well need it.
