Title: TCer Simon Birch
Post by: guest7 on February 26, 2012, 08:11:53 PM
I found out yesterday that former TCer Simon Birch has been unwell and is having an operation on March 1st. I'm sure he wouldn't like me publishing details here of his condition, but it's enough to say that it is a serious and surgery is required.

I wish Simon the very best and I look forward to sharing a cup of tea with him at home in a couple of weeks. I thought I'd post this here so that fellow TCers can reply and I will pass the posts on to him.

Who can forget the first annual rally and Simon getting his footpeg hooked in a car's wheel arch at 50mph during a road rage spat with an ignorant driver? What a star  ;)

Yup all the best for a speedy recovery, I well remember meeting him and his uber-ratty 250rs  ;D on one of my first TC rallies, and being the but of his "earplugs" joke lol

Hear Hear!  Now tell him I said that I always thought he was a good cu*t, (and I expect you to refer to him as that, I use it as West of Scotland term-of-enderment). Especially after sorting out my rear wheel spacer (ahem! lack of) in the SRX with a bit of CB250RS handlebar.  Sawed it off in his shed!

Then put me up for a couple of nights while we (he!) bought new bearings.

Top bloke.

Tell him I (checked it over) and raced the bike like that. And sold it just the same.

LOL, I'd forgotten your extended holiday blag  ;)

I spoke to Simon the other day and he feels a bit rough but he's home and just waiting for biopsy results etc. He says thanks to all who sent their best wishes.

As an aside, he's closed his bike repair business and is setting up as a custom builder, under the name 'Spanorak'  ;D
