Aye Jethro,
Pen-blwydd Hapus, bydded i'r llif cwrw tywyll rhad ac am ddim. ;)
Slainte, Bill.
Do you mean....bydded i'r cwrw tywyll lifo yn rhad ac am ddim.....???
-
Oh! Bother,
I just prefer the latter of the two when translated.
...bydded i'r cwrw tywyll lifo yn rhad ac am ddim. .....bydded i'r llif cwrw tywyll rhad ac am ddim.
...May the dark beer is free flowing. ....May the dark beer flows free.
I am not a bard and only managed CSE, but Google helps a lot, even if I'm caught out more often than not. :)
Slainte, Bill.

In your version, there is no verb...
"May the flood of cheap dark beer............"
If you want to say that the beer is flowing, you must place the verb "llifo" (to flood) after "cwrw". The word "llif" is a noun - a flood. Therefore,"llif cwrw tywyll...." means "a flood of dark beer"....There is no verb in your sentence. You wrote "May the flood of dark cheap beer".Full stop.No verb.My apologies for being pedantic, but correct grammar is important, whatever the language.Nought out of ten for Google .
-
Aye blew,
Thank you for your corrections and explanations, it all makes sense. No need to apologise for correcting either my or Google's grammar.
My grammar has never been a strong point! ::) My Mum, even recited a little ditty because it was very bad at one time. Youf!!! ???
Slainte, Bill.

Apologies for being rather pedantic. It was not meant in any insulting or belittling fashion.I applaud anyone who has the determination to try to write/speak the Language of Heaven. As a fervent Welshman,I had to point out the error. My sister told me about a Howler once. There was an obituary in the paper,in Welsh. The obituary contained the phrase "ysgawen ferch".Ferch=daughter.Ysgawen=elder tree. The dictionary can sometimes be dangerous!!
