I only had time for a quick poke around with the bike before it got dark but noticed that the kickstart hits the back brake pedal. I assume the brake pedal is set a little too high and just needs adjusting downwards a bit - Does this sound a reasonable assumption?
-
Yes reasonable but just check if the kick starter stop on the frame is still there.
-
I have a spare kickstart stop (or two) if you are missing this vital piece of your bikes frame. Just ensure that there is not too much play in everything and that the kickstart is on the correct spline. It may also have a kickstart lever off another bike. I will send you a photo or drawing of the original when I get home from work (unless Steve H beats me to it!)

Here is the parts list for the 600 kickstart courtesy of Steve Haywards SRX600 site (Hope he didnt mind my copying it!!!) Dont forget there is a height for the rear brake pedal set from the footrest. (Sorry I dont have a piccy of that but Im sure Bill will possibly be able to oblige). Hope you get it sorted. Im sure one of us will be able to help if you get stuck

Thanks for that. I'll have to have a proper look on Friday - I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark! :(

Aye Ian and sfb,
Should be able to, although Sally is fitted with a set of Japanese 'Crane' rearsets [PCWorld ::)], so of no use to you. I have an image and measurements elsewhere. ;)
We are using snorkels up here at present, and whilst I type this there is a heavy rain/sleet dump ongoing, with squally Force 5 - 6 winds pushing it on. To cap it all, the large snowplough with the brine application equipment has just passed the house at a sedate 'spreading' speed! ???
All the best, Bill.

Is the brake lever bent or the pivot worn ?
-
It does have a kick start stop so it looks as if I just have to adjust the brake lever. Not sure when I'll look at it next - hospital tomorrow, fingers crossed I'll escape tomorrow as well........... :-\
