Please find yourselves a nice malt or a pint tonight and raise a drink and a thought for my old man. A good bloke and ex motorcyclist, who lost the fight in hospital yesterday morning.
If I'm half the man he was then I've done bloody well.
So if your parents are still around, go see them this weekend, and count your blessings. If not, then remember the good times.
Devastated.

Hi Smudge,
Been there, not a comfortable place to be, my sincere condolences, we all feel we can never measure up, but then the terms of reference are different, would your Dad be happy with what you have done, course he would, so onwards you go, remembering.

Aye Smudge,
Very sorry to read your news. My Dad went from this place last Boxing Day, having hung on from Xmas Eve, both he and Mum come to mind in some querky ways at times. I know how I felt, and can only hope that you are able to cope and then move on. Give yoursel' some space, have a good bawl when it comes upon you, regardless of where you are and know that twinkle in the eye! Remember, yes! But don't get mawkish, you know where you were headed and so did he, so keep going.
Slainte, Bill and Kat.

My condolences Smudge. Can't imagine how you're feeling right now. It's my own Dad's fault i'm into bikes in the first place and life wouldn't be quite right without him about.

Just got this as I'm just in from work. So sorry to hear about your Dad Smudge. It won't feel like it now but time is a great healer...I know.
Just off to the cabinet to fetch something whisky-based. Here's to you all up there and, of course, your Dad.

Only just spotted this.
Very sorry to hear your news mate, and my kindest thoughts to you and your family.
This is our destiny, all we can hope is it is delayed as long as possible and is painless when it arrives.
Take care.

Thanks all of you who have been thinking of us and sent such kind messages.
Dad's funeral will be next Saturday after which we can move on properly. He'll always be missed but time will heal some of the hurt.
Best to all you and yours,
G & S
