I spent Friday to Sunday morning in the company of Simon M, 002 and TC friend Ian Taylor at an archery/camp-out organised by 002, We camped at the Wye Valley Archery centre (http://www.wyevalleyarchery.co.uk/) and it was good to do a bit of pukka rough camping with real fire and a shovel for your toilet visits :D
On Saturday morning we sloped down to be kitted out with bows and arrows and then had a whole day of jolly good fun walking through the woods shooting at animal targets. We only stopped when it got too dark to see the targets.
Last night was spent with a great crowd sat around a fire and having a laff.
Jethro has threatened to repeat the event next year and I urge you to come along, it was easily the best £20 I've spent in a long long time.
Thank you Jethro.

Longbow archery ?

Take Down Recurve.
But there experianced people turn up with an assortment of traditional bows.
Including Flat and of course in this part of the country Long Bows and War Bows(200lb average draw !)
As I'm a novice my 40lb Recurve will do for now ;D

As I'm less muscled than you, I used to practice archery with coumpound of 72 lbs.
I can't imagine how are the arms of those who practice with war bows of 200 lbs. Some kind of Hulk's muscles ;)

We just had the Guides archery store broken into yesterday and a couple of (small) compounds and odds and ends stolen.
Most aggravating >:( (to put it mildly!)
ps sounds like a cracking trip out you lot had though (green!)
