Title: Seat re-covering - Help needed please!
Post by: pigafetta on May 17, 2011, 05:40:45 PM
Hiya

I'm trying to re-cover my XL seat. Can anybody give me a bit of advice as to what to use to attach my fabric to the plastic seat-pan? I've tried a couple of supposedly 'heavy-duty' staple guns but they're not doing the trick. The staples aren't going in far enough to hold firm and just getting mashed up.

It has a plastic base, similar to the XBR seat. Has anybody successfully done one of these?

Any suggestions would be gratefully received  :)

Cheers,
Dave B

I use the mechanical staple guns, and have I found that holding the staple gun tight to the material/base helps. Also if its partially in place you can carefully knock it in the rest of the way using a small hammer.

Thanks Steve.

I've borrowed a gun off a friend. I've been asking around and it seems that liberal use of a hammer and lots of wasted staples is the way to go. I imagine a fair amount of cursing and swearing is going to be involved  :)
