Title: putting it allback together srx twinshock
Post by: guest1155 on April 24, 2011, 07:17:33 AM
Hi guys, after a bit of help. i'm starting to slowly get my srx back together, but may be about to hit a bit of a snag with reasaembly andwondered if anyone could help. when putting the engine back in what i usually do is loose fir the airbox to the frame, then fit the frame to the engine, then the carbs to the engine then its plain sailing. My question revolves around the oil tank. Mainly becaise it hasn't been refinished yet, i don't want to fit it with the engine like i have done in the past (as one unit). Can the oil tank  be fitted after the engine, or does it have to go in with it? I dont want to have to fit then refit the frame to the engine because of risk of damaging the paintwork, and wondered if anyone knew the answer to this.

Thanks in advance

we will need to know whether this is a twin or monoshock chassis?

Im sure its a twin shock chassis. If so I always put the oil tank in first (See photos of my first SRX-now owned by TJ63)then wrap some paper or cloth around it "just in case" of slippage. If its a monoshock chassis then the tank will go on after the engine has been fitted.

thanksguys, thats what i thought. I'll have to sort the oil tank out before i put the engine in then.

Its a bit fiddly, but as long as the carbs are not fitted the oil tank will go back in with the engine in place.
