Have a good one and hope you all enjoy whats left ....wherever you are in the world.

All the Best

Merry Christmas Ian.

No real pressies for me this year as we said we'd concentrate on getting the kids what they wanted and worry about ourselves later on. Having said that I got a couple of good books including the QI book of General Ignorance.

My eldest lad got a Play Station Portable so he's hardly said one thing since yesterday morning  ::)

We've got an apartment in an old country house on the coast south of St Davids. It's bloody idyllic. If we get bored of the sea views from the coastal path we can always return to the heated swimming pool, games rooms and library. This week away was a gift from my in-laws and it's a lovely present.

I'm a bit worried about my water pipes at home though... it was (apparently) -8 in Cardiff last night. The heating set to kick in at 11 degrees or less, but I've seen four or five places ruined by burst pipes in the last two weeks.  Ho hum, best just to return to my beer and worry about it when I get home  ;)

We have good memories of St Davids, biked down there for a couple of long weekends, good food, good beer, coastal path is an ace walk (even in the rain), trip around Ramsey Rock is fun in high seas  ;)  Really tranquil place  :)

-8.  Temperature for wimps.  We got down to -17 a few days ago at work, I had -12 on the car thermometer.  The central heating is struggling a bit it must be said.

So Steffan and I are considering a camping trip, possibly to Hafod.

Santa was kind.

Richard

Will that be on the bikes or in the 4x4?

I think GC @ St Davids is a better idea, unless a log fire and bar can be fitted into the tent  ;)

-17 is also for wimps....there was a photograph in the local paper a couple of weeks ago and it showed the River Severn (in winter of 1981/2) at Ironbridge was freezing up with approx 4" of ice....the temperature then, a mere -25 (during the day!). Apparently your breath crystallised...I can`t actually recall that ;)

Ho ho ho, just woke up from being stuffed with turkey at Christmas.
Actually, have avoided turkey completely this year!!  For the dinner on the day I did stir fry chicken on spaghetti. Honest. Started, cooked, and eaten in less than an hour so no time wasted in the kitchen.

As an aside, just been in the garden now the snow has gone to make an inspection of the damage. Noticed that my tubs have got frozen soil in them, bit like a permafrost. Rather annoyingly, one of the tubs had some sleeping potatoes in it that I had been storing and now I suspect they will be just mush. Bah-Humbug.

Oh, I got my Kylie calendar for Christmas as usual. Woohoo. I also got the Doctor Zhivago book to read and it is rather good.

I never thought I'd type this on this forum, but did anyone else see the Christmas Day Dr Who? Bloody fantastic script and great performances, especially Michael Gambon (of course). Superb telly.

Having stuffed too much Christmas dinner down me I managed to fall asleep in the middle of Dr Who,so I missed it.

I also missed Dr Who for the same reason. Christmas dinner was a little less than traditional here. Due to the on-going kitchen work our Christmas din-dins was a take-out curry. All served up on paper plates with a festive paper tablecloth When everyone was done scoffing we collected up the cutlery, gathered the four corners of the tablecloth and chucked the lot in the bin! No pans, No [or very little] washing up. Result.

I missed Doctor Who for the same reason, but managed to catch the repeat on BBC3. Satellite TV is wonderful (sometimes!)

Hope you all had a good Christmas.

I missed Dr Who, will catch it later... unconventional Xmas:
Vegan dinner in a Scottish run restaurant up a spanish mountain with 40 other folks, sat down at 2pm, crawled out at 7pm  :)
I was the only one eating vegan, wife and one more ate fish, rest were flesh eaters  :'(
Less fat and protein = much more space for wine and whiskey (Jameson's or Power's please)  :)

The effect of no cycling due to weather/holidays and the seasons excesses induced me to buy myself a present of a turbo-trainer in the sales last night  :o

Meanwhile I suppose I'd better open the Port to help take my mind off it  ;D
