Just need to check the dates of the family holiday but all being well I'll be there. Looking forward to it,
GC

Sounds good to me + 1 or 2. ;D
Mark
-
Sounds good. Put me down as a possible.
No rush for an answer, but are dogs allowed? Tempted to make it a family outing if we can bring the Hound of Metcalfe Hall with us.

Hi,
sometimes come promises true - me (Matthias) and Bettina will attend - our special greet to Boyd! Surely we`ll show up at the english meeting. We wrote a mail to Hartmut and Carsten about it and maybe they`ll also come to the annual rally of the Thumperclub. So we have to plan a week or two in Britain - is there nearly to the point of the meeting a possible area to drive our endurance motorcycles? So maybe we`ll choose the Yam TT600 an the Beta otherwise we`ll take the SRX`s
Regards from Germany

Excellent response so far!!!! Really looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. The "Furthest Travelled Award" will be hard won this time around.
Boyd
-
Can we have a UK based 'furthest travelled' award this time. With my navagational skills I'm a nailed on cert ;D

Matthias, There used to be some 'green lanes' in the Elan Valley you could ride the TT and Beta on, but I will need to check their current status.
Steve
-
If I am riding in July I will be there. Possible at the moment but will be sure in January and letcha know.
Izzat Seven quid including camping? ???
-
Doubt if I will get the Furthest Ridden Award..as its virtually in my back yard :( but I will be there at some point over the weekend.
Ian :)
-
I hope to attend this.
Ken
-
Pat & I will be there.....in the old camper with bike attached.
Dave
-
Ummmmm, yes.
Hope to make it. I will put a note on my kitchen calendar. That means its official!
a
-
Maybe a silly question but do you have to arrive on a single? Doubt I could get me and the gf and the camping stuff on the dr.
-
It's never been a condition of the rally (or club in general) that you HAVE to be riding a thumper. Previous attendees have arrived in cars, camper vans and, worst of all, on a BMW twin (that was me ;))
GC
-
Will make an effort to get along, but the Friday is my sister's 30th, so it won't be until the afternoon/evening on sat.
-
Yeah, I'll be there, I may bring a friend.
-
Will try to make this, but won't be on a bike with an engine I'm afraid
Bill
-
Hi Bill
If you're cycling all that way Bill I'll certainly buy you a few shandies!!!! Even if you come by car you are more than welcome.
Boyd
-
Lol Boyd, no I shan't be cycling all t'way but will probably bring the road bike and explore the area. I have contacted Colin Hilliard but he thimks he will be away working but that's not definate.
Bill
-
Thats a real bu55er... we have a long standing family get togrther over that weekend, I hope everyone has a fantabulous time... and i look forward to the reports and pics

Hi,Y'all. I first joined the thumperclub 10 years or so ago and have not been to the annual rallies for a few years, although I did the Dragon 3 years ago. I have re registered as I have'nt been able to log on for some time. I went into the garage yesterday to uncover the XBR to prepare for this years rally and shock ! ,horror !, the last tax disc expired May 06 !. How did this happen ?. Well, I have strayed and been using a twin. I had serviced the XBR before it went into hibernation so a new battery, fresh petrol, a bit of 2 stroke oil down the bore, three prods and THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! .An MOT will be booked for next week.

Walnut
Be good to see you there. I seem to remember you came with a mate on a Honda 250 last time - will he be there as well?
Cheers for now and see you soon
Boyd
-
Hi Boyd, Thanks for the reply, Gwyn who had the 250 is still riding around Anglesey on a Suzuki 100, he's 75 now, still chairman of the Anglesey Bike club but taking things a bit slower now so extended trips are no longer to his taste. We have a few thumpers in the Anglesey club and I keep mentioning the Thumper Club so you never know, we may form a posse.
-
Just to confirm.......I have booked the time off.....so I'll be there !
Once more a Proper Annual.
Jethro ;D
-
Hi, I only recently joined the Thumper club (I m not a natural club joiner) - ive had an SRX 600 for about 3 years which Ive been messing with, rebuilt engine, dynojet, taken insides out of the exhaust , mild cafe raered etc. I live in Anglesey and was thinking of going to the annual rally in July - any other bikers on similar obscure singles from Anglesey thinking of going ?
Chris
-
Hi Chris, I Live on Anglesey and will be attending the rally on my XBR, I will be trying to drum up some interest for the rally amongst the singles owners at the Anglesey motorcycle club tomorrow night, we meet at the Anglesey circuit bar at Ty Croes, 7.30 pm every 3rd Monday in the month. If you want to come along , Ian.
-
Hi Ian, thanks a lot for your reply. I cant make the meeting tonight- I work away from home a lot. Ill try and come to the June meeting. If theres people going to the rally from Anglesey maybe I could tag along? Cracking roads on the way down to Shropshire!?
Cheers
Chris
-
Hi Chris, See you at the club or we'll make arrangements nearer the time, I'm in Llanddaniel.
Ian.
-
Hi Boyd,
Just to confirm Molly and I will be attending, be good to have an annual again!

I would like an annual. Used to enjoy the Victor.{ Alf Tupper was a favourite, as was Matt Braddock, test pilot}. Also liked the Valiant and the Wizard.

MORE RALLY NEWS
Martyn and myself did a bit of ride-out route planning yesterday. We are proposing to have a shorter, less sporty, route to visit the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, Ironbridge, and its environs. Distance we estimate at just under one hundred miles. The other route, kindly lead by Steve Hayward, will be about one hundred and twenty miles and visit scenic Mid-Wales.
There will be a light-hearted prize giving event during the rally, with the usual catagories, along with a "Best Hat" award. This was thought an appropriate catagory after Martyns crowd silencing appearance at the German SRX Rally
Not long now! Hope to see friends old and new there!!!!!!
Boyd
-
Whatho Thumpers,
Beth and I are planning to make it to the Summer Rally, probably by car. I'll put the pinstripe overalls in just in case!
Best wishes to you all,
Ian T.

What was that clip all about??? watched it all looking for Martyn and all I saw was a guy spinning round under what looked like an onion???
I'm confused me.

If Martyn brings his hat, hand crafted by his daughter, to the rally AND the German crew turn up you will be enlightened!

All set for the rally. Ferry tickets sorted. Should be 7, possibly 8 this time. Chris and Tony might even bring their wallets this year! Hope Boyd is doing the Kissagram again.
Ron.
-
Hi Ron, Be great to see you all again. Boyd and I were only last weekend at Uttoxeter thinking it must be two years since we saw you last. Get those boys to refresh their wallets first, we don't want a plague of moths darkening the skies over Bucknell. Mart

After a s**t day at work this comes as great news. Can't wait to see you all again! And as Martyn said previously we were only talking about you at the weekend and wondering if we might see you all this year.
Ronnie, this time around I thought I'd raise the stakes to 'Wham-Bam-Thank-You-Mam-agram' - book early!!!!!
See you all soon
Boyd
-
Are you expecting a rush for tickets? Keep it on the planet!
Ron.

Only 8 days to go!

You might get wood at the thought of giving Boyd a roasting but I'd rather just burn him.

Just in case there wasn't already enough excitement from just being at the Annual Rally there are several awards up for grabs as well. To make sure you have a chance of coming away with one of the memorable awards either:
A) Get your polishing kit out (Best Bike 1st, 2nd & 3rd)
B) Get you matt black paint out (Rat Bike)
C) Ride to the rally site from Norway (Farthest Travelled)
or
D) For the more creative/imaginative amongst us (Best Hat*)
It's by no means compulsory and you will still have to go to work on Monday morning if you win anything!!!
Cheers
Boyd 'Weird Hat' Brooks
*must be worn in the pub to count

Good Evening all
Any chance of another category for those who travel shortest distance!!!
What time are the ride outs scheduled for on saturday as my wife and i would like to join you all?
Are the rideouts and rally just for owners of single cylinder bikes as I ride an F650 and my wife has a CB500 twin?
Thanks
Tim
-
Hi Tim
Sorry no prize for shortest distance travelled but you and your wife are both welcome to join the ride-out. This year there are two ride-outs:
- Sporting (whatever that means) to Tregaron, Devils Bridge, Elan Valley - about 120 miles, leaving @ 10:15
- Touring (less rapid) to Long Mynd, Ironbridge, Highley (Severn Valley Railway museum), Clee Hill leaving @ 10:30
Hopefully see you there.
Cheers
Boyd

Wotcha.
Ooh - I was at the summit of Clee Hill last week - on my 570 Bullet.
Clicky, linky - thingy (http://www.moonshiners.org.uk/LWMEimages/weekend2011/2011week29.htm)

Sporting (whatever that means)
Sporting = Reasonably quick, but not stupidly so. No one will get left behind and the pace will be adapted to suit the group.

Got home a couple of hours ago after a gentlemanly paced ride with Big Bad Boyd. I had a great weekend and thank you all for making it so much fun. A special thanks to Boyd for letting me help with the itinerary and stuff, and the the Germans and and the lads from N.I. for all the extra travelling they had to do. I hope you all enjoyed as much as I did.

Yes, a most excellent weekend, we had a really enjoyable time.
A big thanks to Boyd and his dad for doing all the arranging, ;D . I don't know which one of you was responsible for organising the weather but it was marvelous.
Hats off now.
-
I kept the signing-in sheet in order to thank everyone that attended, but you obviously know who you are. So BIG BIG THANKS to you all for making mine and my dads efforts worthwhile. It makes it easier knowing that even if it was really cr*p the good natured, and generous, attendees would always emphasize the positive - after thouroughly taking the p*ss!
So again big thanks to all who made the effort. Hopefully you all got back safely and we'll see you around some place soon.
Boyd
-
Hi Boyd,
It's mostly all been said, but I would like to add Mols and my thanks to you and your "Dad" (sorry Martyn), for putting together a thoroughly enjoyable weekend, the choice of camp site was very good, the company was even better.
