He was recently going on about revisiting 'Close Encounters' and now I see his bike has a true 80s icon fitted to it, namely the 'Eddie Lawson' headlamp fairing:

Hackbridge, old chap, you're living in the past... it's time to hang up the nylon paddock jacket, stonewashed jeans and white (bootie) trainers. And realisitically, that old Maltese Cross Phil Read lid is past its best ;)

Oi, that fairing came cheap back in 2001 when we were getting ready for the IoM trip and worked very well thank you. It helped the mighty SRX400 achieve 96mpg on a steady run there!! ;D ;D
Maybe it is old fashioned, but it works (unlike Close Encounters). Incidentally, I still have 2 paddock jackets, one nice red/white/blue CBR one which is in my shed for gardening purposes. The other is a rather fluorescent red and hangs next to my desk at work to ward off visitors... In regards to those boots you mention, they must be a Welsh thing as I don't know what they are? :o

I was struggling to describe them. I meant lace up boots made in the training shoe style. I couldn;t find a decent picture, but this gives a flavour of what I meant (although the 80s biker style was in plain white):

Sigh... I remember having a shot on one of those when they were brand new... :-[

Boss, are those boots from your eBay list then? Have they been worn by your 19 year mate's daughter during the summer along with her old clogs/sandals that you sold last year?

Aaargh! club members with a memory!
For thpse whose don't know the background, I was selling a pile of clothing from a flat I was refurbishing (the tenants had done a bunk). All I was left with after a bout of Ebaying was a pair of woman's clog sandals. I thought these were going in the bin until clun member Pat suggested that I check out what was listed under 'shoes, fetish' on Ebay. It appears that there is a market in used smelly woman's shoes! I constructed a back story about the shoes having been worn all summer by my mate's 18 year old daughter and that she had thrown them out because they were smelly and the bidding became intense. Each to their own I guess. :o
