I have had a consistent problem with my SRX, in so much as the reg/rec stops working and flatens the battery. Every time I change the reg/rec I get a new battery and after a while the same problem arises. can anybody recommend a up rated reg/rec or some other advice?. All the other components such as the charging coil in the motor meet specification.

Hi there
It maybe that the coils are need of replacement. Remember that the stator and rotor were originally paired items. If one or other were changed at sometime in their life, this may have a bearing on what you are experiencing. May I also suggest you check all bullet connectors, earth connections and cables associated with the charging circuit. It may be something (stupidly) simple as a bad earth.
Just my thoughts
Hope this helps
Ian :)

I'd go for bad earth as well. Did you measure the output voltage when you fitted the new reg/rec unit ?

Well, on my first SRX i had all sorts of problems with the regulator, and tried several different regulators (which may or may not have been exactly the same, or known to be 100% serviceable :) ) in the end i bought a new one from Boyer/Brandsen, advertised in Classic Bike for Nortons Triumphs etc runs at about 90w i think, anyway....been on there for 9 years now. Cost about £45 i think
