Title: XBR fork springs?
Post by: guest833 on September 01, 2010, 02:13:31 PM

Sure it's an easy question but re the long spring inside the fork-

Does the tighter thinner part of the spring go at the top or bottom of the fork on reassembly?

The book doesn't give a clue

Cheers

Mine was the other way around - the tight end of the spring was on the top (closest to the driver) and the looser part on the bottom..

Quote: Official Honda XBR500 Manual section 12-17

"Wipe oil off the spring throughly using a clean cloth
Install the fork spring with the taper ends facing down.
Install the seat washer and spacer in the fork tube."

 ;)

( However I seem to think that Hagon replacement springs were installed tight coils UP)
