Im getting peed off with the weather. I have just finished jetting my carb, and testing it down my road in between the rain showers. Dont get me wrong Im no fair weather biker and rode the XBR throught the winter in the ice and the 4 days of snow. (unheard of in Christchurch) But I need a nice fine day with dry roads so I can properly test it down my local race tr..... I mean road.

St Swithin has got his revenge ...hes made it last longer than 40 days :(

2 hours ride today, the bike runs pretty well with the new carb, a small flat spot just off idle and still a little lean at full throttle but much crisper pretty much throughout the rev range. Im much happier with the bike now. got home about 2 minutes before it started raining again.

Unfortunately/Fortunately.....I went out on the SRX today......it was reasonable weatherwise, till I got half way to my destination (Capesthorne Hall, Macclesfield).....then someone turned the shower on :(
On arrival ...the rain stopped (after having given everyone a soaking)....
The bright part of the day was.....
The SRX Hybrid won the Post 1980s class ;D
RESULT!!!!

Usually in my past experience , flat spot off idle = TOO RICH ?????
Have you carried out a plug chop ?

Hi Ian650 Yes thats sods law Did you take waterproofs with you? Good result on the bike though.
Hi Fuzz your spot on, and its caused by my number 3 throttle slide, when I have funds I will change it to a 3.5.

My '87 XBR has a TOTALLY seized choke cable.
As it starts straight off the button , I think its probably seized in the carb too....
The whole bike did smell sooty ! before I washed it last week...

Rain? Its been too hot to wear a helmet here (Axarquia, Spain) so my slr 650 is off the road for a change of petrol tank and seat... brackets made for seat, screwed on, more metal cut from subframe and bits added, to be welded this week; old XL500s tank has been cut and welded, but pet tap needs moving >:( missed that! Will post pics in projects section.
Off to Tarifa this weekend.. imagine Newquay, Cornwall with bigger surf, more sun (min 22, max 29 this w/e, ZERO chance of rain), more bars, restaurants, live music and lots of herbal substances keping people happy.
Someone has to do it.
