We have been invited to apply for a club stand at this show. Anyone who has attended with the club will know what a laugh and great freebie this is.
We need some bikes for the stand so please have a think about whether you can commit to having your bike on the stand for the weekend. we also need helpers so if you think you can help build and man the stand then let me know. Free tickets waiting.
I need to pull together a list soonish.

I'll be there - Yamaha XTZ660. Are we having a theme*? Can we still win prizes (money)?

I'll be there, with the SRX-4. Think I'll stay over this time - it's just a bit far to commute ;D

I had a theme in mind, but your track record with this event is much more illustrious than mine, fancy taking it on?

I was sent an application form to enter privately..Im going to try it that way so it will leave a place for someone else to show theirs

Me, Ifor + 1 should be good for this.
Mark

Not too sure at the moment about taking the CG.
Will have to see how oil tight the crankcases are.
But Definately up for Helping on the Stand.

I'd like to bring Rex the reluctant SRX 6 along for the stand? He not fully standard but should look shiny by then...is there room for a lit'lun? If so I'll book the hotel. I've been to Stafford before with my LC Club hat on & you're right, it's a laugh even getting the hire van stuck in the mud in the car park/field like last year :-[

I'm certain there will be room for a lit'lun. Be good to put a face to a name, but a hotel! The best bit is ar$ing about in the evening, especially if we have another BBQ & firework display.

Thanks, that sounds great. Count me in & I can take Friday off to get there early to assist with the stand. See you there! ;D
-
Leah, if you want to see a non standard one then look at mine if you get the chance ;)
Ian

What are the dates for this one?? If it's Oct I might be able to go as building project should be watertight by then. Sept might cause a problem.

16th and 17th October.

Oh Rob,
How very ungentlemanly to even suggest such impropriety! :o It might even induce some glove throwing from the more volatile members! ;)
Laphroig afore retiring! Bill.

16th and 17th October.
Trevor
Oh goody, should be able to make it.
-
Happy to offer SB#3 to go on the stand, and depending on how it comes together, maybe the 800 adventure outfit.
-
Just to confirm what I said to you at Uttoxeter Graham....and also did you manage to find the time to dig out a badge or 2? If so..can you send one. I will reimburse you fully
Ian :)

16th and 17th October.

Further to my previous offer.
I'm off that weekend, and now hopefully the CG is oiltight.
Having just stripped and rebuilt with a new crankcase half.

Sorry chaps, been busy, Yes Stafford is on. Who wants to exhibit?
GC
-
I would like to put the SRX Hybrid in Graham, just to c0ck a snoop at Nick Mowbray!!!
Ian :)
-
Rs is available but need to check new rota.
Rob .
-
No great desire to put the XT on the stand but love to attend the show. If your stuck for exhibits you can use the bike but I don't think it would display the club in a favourable light. :-[
-
Any details on ticket, camping fees for this show?
Crusty ???
-
Me and Ifor can bring Enfield and Norton.
I'm having a new hip next Sunday :-\ and unsure of recovery time so all in the air regarding riding or vanning.
Mark
-
I'm still interested !
Jethro
-

Can do if you want?
I'll probably need to share a van up with people though. Not fussed if not wanted.

Ill be there, with the SRX.
Trevor

Graham
Still count me in, but maybe we should opt for a low key stand this time around!
Any details on ticket, camping fees for this show?
Crusty ???
Hi Crusty. The club gets a free ticket allocation, inclusive of camping, dependent upon numbers of bikes on the stand. Your new Tenere on the stand would be a great contrast against Ifors Norton. Bikes need to be on the stand from Friday evening/early Saturday morning until Sunday evening (16:00-ish).
Rs is available but need to check new rota.
Rob .
I won't take my RS if you're taking yours but will tootle along with the XTZ!
See you all soon, hopefully...
Boyd
-
I'd like to bring Rex (SRX 600 project) along if there's room please. He may not be a runner but I can push!!
Leah
-
Time is marching on.
As I dont know if the club still has a stand or not I am with drawing my offer.
The last time I offered I ended up loosing a days overtime.
So I am not prepared to loose another days pay or holiday. :(
Jethro
-
Jethro
Are you a mind reader? I was thinking exactly the same thing. Yet again a total lack of courtesy from GC has left everyone who has volunteered their time, bikes etc. completely in the dark. Sadly, like so many former TC supporters*, I just can't be ar$ed anymore; so count me out as well!
Boyd
* avoided the term member as that's another on-going saga!!!!!!!!!
-
I dont like to cause a hornets nest to be stirred but surely the show is still on as GC stated sometime ago. I do realise what people are saying so......
Are we in or are we out?
Ian
-
The last time I offered my bike/time and help I declined the offer of a days overtime.
No details of the show or explanation was forth coming.
When I asked at a later date what had happened the reply was
"I thought you were joking,so didnt pass on any information"
I passed that off as a genuine missunderstanding(?)
And lost a few pennies in the process.
Yes I have the weekend off,but do need to know IF my time is required so I can book the Friday off to travel up on CG or whatever.
I am not prepared to book time off to loose it for nothing.
I dont have a problem with helping or taking part in Club events, but do need to know when and where so that I can sort things out. That being work and travel arrangements.
Once Bitten Twice Shy !
Jethro
-
Afraid I'm out as well due to family commitments.
-
Sod it!
I'm going to the dogs instead (Nottingham greyhound stadium to be precise ;) )
I'll have to try out the brand new sleeping bag another time.
Trevor
-
Looks like its going to be an empty space rather than a group of well loved and well ridden motorcycles.....
Hey ho ......
Ian :(

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you guys. I've been a tad busy and when I chased up Mortons it transpired that there had been some confusion and misdirected emails. They have gone over to an Email-only system this year and in our case there had been some problems.
Finally, yesterday, I had confirmation that WE HAVE A STAND AT STAFFORD. All I need now is names, bikes and details of numbers.
I haven't got time this morning to read this thread but I understand that there have been some cancellations. I can only apologise if people got fed up of waiting. However if you still want to display your bike and have a great free weekend at Stafford then let me know and we can kick this along.
Anyway, got to dash, I have to go to work (been there a lot lately :()
GC
-
Phew! Would have been seriously p1ssed off if this had been cancelled. This was my only planned event this year (apart from sneaking off to Llantony on day/night release).
I'm up for the weekend and if there are not enough bikes for the stand now, you can stick the XT on.
-
Bad planning on my behalf but Im on holiday till the 17th BUT my son has heroically volunteered to ride the SRX hybrid to Stafford...(aww poor him)..I do hope everyone that goes will enjoy the show ..I know most of us have our own views of Mortons, but at the end of the day its a damn fine show they put on....trouble is..they need a few bikes to make it work.
I dont seem to do a lot when it comes to organising these sort of events but I do appreciate those that do put the work in.
Ian
-
Feck! I just read through the posts in this thread :o
Sorry guys, all my fault (aided by the mighty Morton's show apparatus).
I spoke to Boyd earlier and he is going to come along and show his XT660. Boyd told me that Martyn Peters was pencilled in, but I spoke to Martyn and he feels that he is not yet ready to camp out for the weekend because of his injured arm.
Thank you Ian, Mark, Ifor, Boyd and Pat for your offers. I will be sending the entrants list to Mortons tonight and they will issue tickets to me. I should have these in plenty of time to post them out (recorded delivery of course).
Anyone else up for a good freebie weekend? The stand will be run in much the same way as the recent Uttoxeter show, on an informal and relaxed basis without any requirement for entrants to hang about and/or deal with the punters.
Once again I can only apologise for being out of circulation for so long, trust me when I say that the reasons were genuine and very pressing.
GC
-
The details have been emailed to Mortons. Gareth (my brother) has offered to come along (with DR650) and Mark is bringing his usual Taffia entourage ;)
Most of the free tickets have been claimed already, but I will offer any spares on a 'first come, first served' basis when I know how many are left over (and not before)
There won't be a theme to the stand this year, but we should have some more show banners ready by then so it won't be too spartan. If any of you exhibitors want to bring along some stuff to sell on the stand then that's good, it attracts interest. The usual coffee machine and nibbles will be there too.
GC
-
I volunteered my SRX 600 a couple of times already on this thread. I've been working hard to get it ready, now I may not have a ticket? Let me know please GC so I can make arrangements.
Leah

Leah, I'm sure you'll be ok for a ticket, don't worry, GC isn't the best of organisers but he gets there in the end.
-
I really hope Leah gets her ticket....she has no doubt worked her buttress off to get to the show.....GC show some compassion !!!!
Ian
-
Graham
Send the girl a ticket please! Given that we won't be fighting stand bikes off with a stick we need ALL the help we can get.
Boyd
-
Calm down everyone. Yes a ticket can be found for Leah (and bike).
Let's just wait and see what the post brings from Mortons, we're in their hands at the moment.

Blimey! I'd better make sure Rex is ready then ... :)

Still waiting for tickets to arrive so no real news yet sorry.
Re. the camping, I will be taking my big blue tent to the show to use as a mess tent and there will be free tea and coffee available to all who want to put the kettle on. I will also be bringing bacon and rolls for breakfast on the saturday. If we can sort out a big pot of curry for the Friday night then we will bring that too.
GC
-
Getting a bit close for me GC...youll have to contact my son if the tickets dont arrive this week
Ian
-
Yes I'm a bit concerned too so I have just mailed Mortons again and I will ring them later today (when the sun comes up).
It always the case that when it gets to this stage there's a flap, some concerned phone calls and an embarrassed discovery that the tickets had arrived whilst you were at work.
Cheers
GC
-
LOL! I got home and found the tickets had arrived! :D :D :D :D
Always the bloody same eh?
Right, all exhibitors:
all exhibitors must send me the address to send their tickets to. These will be sent Recorded Delivery as soon as I get the address.
Let me know how many tickets you need.
I will send one vehicle pass (for your van etc.) per exhibited bike, let me know if this is too few/too many
Pronto!
Cheers
GC

GC,
Got my tickets this morning.
Ta,

Boyd

I got tickets too :)
See you there :)

Mine's arrived too. setting off on friday morning to arrive... Whenever :-\ Please leave your mobile on GC so I can find you on site. cheers.
-
I've got the day off on Friday so hope to be on site early afternoon. Will try and secure the spot we've had previously. For those of you who have not been with us before, or like my good self are losing grey cells at an alarming rate, here are some rough directions:
- imagine you are looking at the front of the main hall
- go left towards the camping field until you come to the boundary hedge (approx. 400yds)
- we will hopefully be up against the boundary hedge about 50yds. to the right of a small brick built entrance/ticket booth
- if we are lucky we will be immediately to the left of the barred gate and access drive
- look out for my Welsh flag and XTZ660 Tenere
Hope that makes sense
I will leave my mobile on 07971-051266
Boyd
-
We have a stand on the balcony on the opposite side to our usual pitch, in the little section next to the restaurant. Stand number B109.
My mob number is 07866 525054 if anyone gets stuck.

Great weekend! Well one night for me ;) Good to see some old faces and a few new ones. Seemed to be a lot of people asking about the club so that is good.
Crusty
-
Nice to meet you all and finally put names to faces! Lovely to see an SRX-6 get a highly commended, guess dad (Ian650) will have to think up of another weird and wonderful hybrid to put to the judges for the next time...
Apologies for only showing my face on Friday & Sunday afternoon, but I have other responsibilities at the weekend, next year I'll look at booking the following week off so no-one can complain :-)
Cheers,
Si
-
Hi, good to meet a few of you on Saturday.
I hope you all had a good weekend. You will be pleased to hear Leah that 'Eeyore' started 1st kick every time (carefully planned, ran into the petrol station, no take away and not many people stood around watching when I left)
I will be sending a membership form,
Thanks Chrisine
-
Not a bad weekend, nice to meet up with new and old, spent loads, ate loads but didn't drink too much.
A good stand with some cracking bikes and a well deserved 'highly commended' for Leahs'
Mark
-
Yep! I agree with the other posts. Very good weekend, no hassle, like minded souls, lots of bikes, few beers, and a bit of camping with just enough frost to make it interesting. Hope you all got home OK and maybe see some of you again soon.
Boyd
-
I too agree with the other posts. The weather was great a little chilly at times but bright sunshine all weekend. 1st time to the show for me and i was amazed quite how big the show was and the numbers who attended. Well done to Leah for her award thoroughly deserved it. Hope to catch up with most of you at the Dragon.
-
'twas a goodly weekend and with some bits for Abigail chucked in for good measure. Thanks all for your company.
Here's one for the philosophers... Searched high and low for some frame protector rubbers (split rubber tubes you put on the frame to protect it from tanks/seat humps) that cost a fortune (£2.50 each!). Been in the shed tonight to fit them to Abigail and I don't like the look of them!
Heyho! More for the scrap bin.

Im sorry I was unable to attend this show, esp after campaigning :-[ Thanks to Simon (Max724) for taking the reins on the hybrid and ensuring it got there eventually after Mr Mowbray told me there wasnt room for the bike (it/him/her?). Well done to Leah for flying the flag so ably for the club and sincere congrats. (Pm me Leah..you know what about!) Many thanks for all the hard work done by all concerned to get a stand at probably THE biggest classic bike show in the country. If anyone has a few photos of the bikes and the stand I would appreciate a copies of them if you are able to email me (ian650 at hotmail dot com)
Roll on the next one and I do hope I will be able to put a wee bit more effort in next time (damn holidays getting in the way!)
Ian :)
PS If anyone is going to the Classic Car and Bike Show at the NEC next month, the hybrid is due to make (another) appearance in the "Pride of Ownership" section (Private Entries) November 12th to 14th. :D
-
I agree with all the posts above, it was a great weekend and I enjoyed it enormously (although blagging entry for Leah's bike into the locked building was stressful ::))
Great company, good show and another rosette for a bike on the TC stand.
Thanks you to all who attended for all your hard work and unbroken good cheer.

Hello everyone, we've been too busy to look at this until now, but great weekend, even if we didn't camp (!?!) BTW no frost at hotel to make it interesting, Boyd.
Little time to post pictures taken of the stand, but felt the 'catalogue pose' warranted immediate showing :-[- this is clearly the essence of the thumper club and sod the bikes!!!
Thanks for being so welcoming and we hope for continued inclusion.
