Title: Pembrey Magic
Post by: Furry John on April 05, 2010, 09:08:31 PM
Hi,
Went to the CRMC meet on Sunday at Pembrey, lots of interesting bikes, best bit was watching Ollie Linsdell "playing" with 3 "Slippery Sam" replicas at the front in a 750cc race on his dads 500cc Royal Enfield. The Enfield was just so quick that had it not been for lapping backmarkers just before the finish, Ollie would have won with room to spare. I believe the lap record was set by Ollie at something over 82 mph in this race. Makes you wonder what went into that Enfields engine, it certainly was'nt fuel injection.

Aye John,

I believe that machine was going to be used by the 'Old Man' for a last 'swan song' attempt on the MGP!  :)

Like you, I'd love to know what's in the guts. I suspect 'large' valves, big overlap valve timing (Alpine cam) and plenty of crafted/polished unobtainium throughout, especially valvegear.

Toodle pip, Bill.

And no way is it running the origininal big end/main bearings/con rod/oil pump.

Virtually a different engine.  Bloody good effort though, fair warms the cockles of the heart.

Don't know what happened there.............did a moderator intervene due to my reckless use of the phrase "cockles" and does it represent a horrific sexual perversion in South Wales that I am innocent of ?

We should be told.

It was moderated, the forum has simple text matching check, so it will match on predefined words within words. I'm in two minds about having it enabled, as its a bit patronising having simple words modified.

Having said that I have had complaints in the past, so its going to stay for the time being.
